I have already activated my Cubase 11 after November 9th so am in the grace period and will be entitled to Cubase 12 for free. But what happens to the license on the dongle? can I gift it to someone? Its now NFR.
Nah, I don't think so.

I am guessing this is what was mentioned.... now to find out what SB means by actively maintained :)

edit: my guess is that actively maintained they mean still sold, so Cubase 11 won't be still sold after C12 is released.
We shall see.

Ok, so that's the new thing. Unfortunately, there's no info about software using the existzing licensing scheme (eLicenser), and whether it will be updated to use the new thing.

I hope Wavelab 11 at least will be updated to the new system. I just bought an upgrade from 10 to 11 for Wavelab Elements (I always loved the software).

I think the answer is right above your post. :)

Meh... that really sounded differently in the statement I remember. So, I guess that stuff like Halion Orchestra will never be updated, and that I can wait until Wavelab Elements 12, until I can get rid of the dongle for that. Not so good.

which I read as 'murky'.

I just started the Download Assistant, and, there was an update, which definitely added a new component to my system:

TBH, I don't know how they will do it, at all. My guess is that all future software will get new licensing, I really can't imagine they will do it for Steinberg Halion Orchestra, for example. Hopefully, I'll be surprised, but, I doubt it.
No need to do it for the halion orchestra vst for example. This is now a halion (sonic) soundbank and I am sure all of these soundbanks get the new scheme)

That would be great.

The sound set is still available, so I am sure it gets migrated.
