Well done for beating the dead horse into a pulp Wopelka

Track Reviews:

Took me about three hours this morning. Please note that I use Radio Markeford to listen to all the tracks (precious disk space restrictions on my box and all that ;) ) Therefore, there are a few tracks I cannot hear. Sorry
--------------------------------------

Woj - Eight:

Nicely done -- this tune screams: "Give me vocals!"
Could have used some more instumentation -- I'd like to hear a 'Jump' - Van Halen style synth in there mellowing out the background. Good mix though.
Going for the eighties revival on vinyl maybe ;)

IXOX - The Road to a 25 Million Dollar Deal:

Beautiful, moody and dramatic. Great spread of instruments with excellent balance. Reminds me of music I heard in the French film 'City of Lost Children'. Going for Best Soundtrack at Cannes :)

Pheeleep - Dreaming:

Very nice! Love the drum mix & overall rhythm. Great and tasty guitar work there & fits the piece very well. I'd like to have a whole CD of music done like this. Going for 'Blue Mood Scene' soundtrack, perhaps in a movie like 'Vanilla Sky'.

Khepira - Let-Yourself:

Totally upbeat & energy-driven. Would go down very well in any of the dance clubs in Asia, esp. Bangkok, Manilla, Honkers, Shanghai -- at least as good as any of the commercial dance tunes I've heard. Going for 'Dance The World'.

TristezaOrange - Coastal Town:

I like this track because it's close to some tracks I've done in mood and instrumentation -- especially the lonely, drooling bone solo, which I really enjoyed hearing :). I see this as soundtrack for the new wave of musical poetry that's on the stands in the more esoteric music shops. ;)

Knockman - The Contact:

Typical Knockman - completely enthralling and hard to attach to any specific genre (unique, in a word). To have a stab though, I'd say 'Musical Poetry'. Mix is great as usual. There's inspiration and talent in this man. :)

VitaminD - Midnight is a Destination:

Unfortunately, the Chinese government sees fit to block ATTHome and other such sites - seemingly arbitrarily. I hate that I cannot hear your tunes (or even see the graphics you post and some others post), so sorry about that mate - my misfortune, but as you said before, it doesn't worry you but don't want you to think you were ignored. Cheers.

Hovmod - Record Deal:

This must be what Marilyn Manson's first demo track sounded like ;). Good EQ separation - esp. on the vocal & excellent drum work! Would have been cool to hear more of the harp work further on in th track somewhere. ;)

Peppy197 - Power Peanuts:

Way cool -- pensive yet energetic track with a lot going on being clearly heard in the mix. Great rhythmic feel. It's great to listen to KVR over the years and hear better and better music like this, full of originality. Maybe soundtrack? :)

DonkeyT - Timberlake:

Always another way-cool tune from DT which serves to remind us all not to take much of this too seriously  Even so, underneath the Carnaby Cool lies a talented man. Opening act for Billy Connolly? :hihi: On the 'A' side of the new U-Komics album. I like it and have added it to my DT minidisk. ;)

Wolpeka - You Know Who's The New Man:

Wonderfully done, excellent mix as usual. Bon vivant little number with a snappy-cool feel that makes me wanna move my happy feets  Is this the new French Hiphop? ;)

UTM - Athens:

Very sweet piece. Reminds me of those mellow afternoons yonks ago in Golden Gate Park just after a free Dead concert. I love vocals and harmonies and this one sits high on my list for the contest. :)

DJPauliePhonic - ? :

I can't get this to play on my Winamp. Winamp shows 32kbps 11Khz (wtf??) and the play bar moves along but I get no sound. Sorry -- I'm no technical whiz so I have no idea what's up.

Farlukar - OIIFTM:

Dark Trance? I like the warping done in here -- tasty use of mangling. The mix sounds kind of muddy, like maybe the woofers used to master the track are not referrencing enough lows? Just a thought because I had that problem (maybe still do  )

AndreasE - Melrock:

There is a consistancy in AndreasE's tracks that I like. In fact. they sound completely balanced in that I can take all his tracks direct to a CD without any normalizing. Thoughtful and evocotive tunes, as usual. This one sounds like an intro to 'Evil Dead' - The Game. ;)

Lady-J - Mr Right Now:

The controvery
Hmmm... My take on the *unusual* controversy, I think the reaction was too much (and a little revealing). And I was neither offended nor bothered nor did I get a boner or feel less manly or otherwise intimidated seeing your pics. Even so, I do agree with Phz's overall reasoning and I reckon that if I posted a sexy pic of myself along side my track it would simply be 'over the top' and not quite a fit here at KVR. That said, I think it could have been handled a little more gently via a PM. Also, some of the comments were uncalled for and very insulting, but when one considers the sources, these little chaps are almost always viscious little snipes with not much good to say about anyone (look at their posting histories). So f**k the anal-retentive little twats and power on being the beautiful, outspoken, talented, self-confident American girl that you are. Let the music speak.

The Track
Your track is awesome, fits the theme well, is creative and tasty. I would say that' it's a wee bit weak on the originality thing, but then I think it's what the theme demands, i.e. "commercial", so you certainly filled the bill. I have a problem with 'fade-outs' in the contest, in that it makes some think that the song was taken from another piece and modified for it, but after listening to the verses, it appears to be a genuine entry with a lot of hard work and energy. I will vote this song highly for three reasons: One - I really do think it's a winner for this contest, two; I love to piss off anal-retentive teabags, and three; I like your body and want to meet you for a drink somewhere soon (j/k :hihi: )

Respirator - Biggest Hit:

This song says it all  A formula song all about the formula ;) I can hear Arnold Schwarzenegger singing this for his next governor's campaign :hihi: Well done with a good mix and well paced. I like it :)

I don't know whose track? - getting an error 'syncing to audioshots':

Plunge - Tabasco:
I REALLY like this track and I'd love to do a vocal track for it! :) My kinda feel for this month -- 'all blue and dry in the desert' groove. ;)

ZioKiller - Noisy Town:

Love it! Be movin my soul here... Beautifully done! For the mix -- it's what I imagine I might be able to do if I had the right DAW gear, and so it also makes me feel sad and frustrated, but only because it's so good. Mate - a top vote. :)

Remco - Future Bride:

Beautiful, haunting and very original, as usual from Remco a fabulous piece of work. Another top vote. :)

Techbot - Copyright This:

It's a shame, but I can't hear in this what it is you might have done other than stitch som samples together. Is that it? If so, it's funny and cool and seems the samples are quite well 'DJ'd'. Amusing for sure. ;)

"error syncing to audioshots":

"error syncing to s41.yousendit":

Kantanaman - Mr Man:

 The great, as yet undiscovered garageband from Malibu? :hihi: Good mix and evenly spread (just a tad muddy at times on my speakers) & funny lyrics! Enjoyable effort! :)

Richiebee - Child of the Eighties:

Wowee - great bass solo -- also most excellent use of drums & brass! I'd like to hear the guitar and vocals up a bit higher, but an excellent track and well mixed! High scoring vote mate! :)

Scamme - Obvious Junatic:

Great dub! Love the sound :) This sounds like one of the songs I heard in Iceland a couple of years ago. Formula but with an overall feel of originality that I like. Good work mate! ;)

M'Snah aka HansM - Popstar:

Mate! Boy your mixing has radically improved lately! Really clean and full of sunshine! Love the intro and then the fall into the pop dance beat. I'd like to hear the bongos up in gain a tad, but a very good spread in the mix otherwise. (That your daughter there? ;) ) I like it very much mate! :)

System ERA - Let Me Just Lite This Shit:

Very impressive work mate! I LOVE the mix - it's a near a perfect DnB mix as I've ever heard on KVR and not so easy to do -- also some great lyrics & overall feel. This kicks major ass on the big speakers. Great work and top marks, but I have to ask -- was it composed for this contest? Eh? :hihi:

Beardedone - It's A Deal:

I always love Gordon's tracks, not just for their feel and originality, but also for the consistently great percussion. I'll vote this one high -- just a great feel and a real keeper. :)

*That's all of the submissions I've heard to this point*

Yeah well, it's obvious I'm partial to vocalists -- it's the 'soul hole' mate, and they haven't been able to properly 'synth' that yet.

Certainly deserved -- and eminently indicative of what you're capable of. Power on! ;)

Thanks for reporting it here, Alex. Strange, I count 66 downloads now, and I tested (right now) both streaming and download, both work well. Maybe you can try again? Must have been a server hickup.

Anybody else having problems with getting my song? In that case I'll put it on another host...

Serenely surreal. Deliciously ridiculous. The doo-wop gospel choir over the very groovy bass with the accompanying glockenspiel is unparallelled in home grown pop, and the church organ wraps it up *just* before the 2 minute mark, doesn't it :D Great. Shortlisted.
Thanks, great review. I like how you get more out of it than I had put in there... I just liked the sounds going together .

Hans -- another reason is that the site may be blocked by the Chinese, but it seems unlikely since "wusik" certainly doesn't host any anti-Chinese/Falon Gong propaganda, etc. ]

Anyway, I'll keep trying mate and if I can get it, I'll do yup a special review -- and that goes for anyone else I can't hear at the mo, no worries. ;)

Cheers,
Alex

Hey Teach/pHz: It's been brought to my attention that I've named my track incorrectly. tabasco.mp3 vs 0506-plunge-tabasco.mp3. Tags are there, but the file name is incorrect. With your permission, I'd like to correct the error.

Thanks,
Plunge

PS: thanks to xander for pointing out the problem and thanks for the review.

That works! :) As I said, I use Markleford's radio for reviews because I don't have a hundred megs spare on my HD. It SO convenient for me. So maybe you could check to se why it desn't work on there?

I'll post this here and also edit it into my review post.

i must confess that i haven't been a gentleman these last couple of days and now i regret it :(
(i say it without any irony).

your character is quite... different, and sometimes it causes me to let myself be overcome by my own weaknesses.

please forget it and/or forgive it.
