Yeah but I like diversity, and already own a Catanya license. I'd like to see it further developed.

That would be great if it's true. They have never returned a email, ever. which will keep me from ever spending any more money with them. Free updates, I'll take.

My money is going to active products with good customer service like Cthulhu and Kirnu, and Kirnu Cream when it arrives.

I never really understood the concept of their advertisements. They have a lady in a red dress with red hair with a finger in front of her lips, pointing it at her nose.. I guess she is telling everyone to be quiet. But why?

They could have had an oompa loompa with a giant lollypop in front of it's face and it would have been just as logical.

To anyone who's still following this thread - the feature about Catanya that attracts me the most is the presets and how you can select an instrument and genre, and just how good the presets sound based on the video. I checked out YouTube videos for Cthulhu, Kirnu, and Cream, and none of them seemed to feature this functionality the way Catanya does. I really want Catanya, and since I'm new to it, updates aren't quite as important to me, YET. But the problem is, I'm on a Mac. Is there anyway to get Catanya working on a Mac OTHER than running it inside a Windows Virtual Machine? Thanks.

I bought it almost 36 hours ago and so far no link and no file from 7Aliens.

Sent two emails to support, neither of which were answered.

They don't appear to be working on any new/improved version as far as I can tell.

I tthink you should contact Share It, I think they are the ones that really distribute the codes AFAIR. 7aliens is very unresponsive, weird they actively advertise, that seems to be the only business presence they have in the market, to make money. That's sad. There can't be that many customers and emails to address, so it just tells me I should put my eggs in a different basket.

I highly recommend Pattern Arp, it doesn't have a preset library but for anyt=one looking for a very flexible, dynamic arpeggiator I still think this is the very best out there. It is 32 bit, Synthedit-based, but it works wonderfully in JBridge and Live 9 in 64 bit. It is only 8 Brittish pounds too, well-worth th risk of investment. And Chris answers your emails and is very helpful with any issues you may have. A version of the arp is also built into his Jupitea synth, which i also own and have found can make some beautiful, differnt sounds than your average synth. It is hard to program but that actually leads to happy accidents for me.

Thanks for info. I actually own CK's plugs you mention. Need to revisit those.

I bought Catanya through their PayPal option which states that the dl could be delayed 24 hours.

I'll make the most of the plug when I get it.

I can't quite see what this vst contains that the piano roll editors in most DAW's haven't got covered?

"9x32 note matrix", does that mean one cannot make longer phrases than 32 steps?

How well does the random generator work?: "Play a simple chord and the selected pattern accordingly creates MIDI track with bassline ,higher notes and groove"

Here is the interface. I particularly like how you can click in one cell, then drag up/down to adjust velocity, and left/right to adjust duration. It just makes looking at what you are hearing so much clearer, and changing something all feels related and organic, no switching pages to adjust velocity etc.

Each slot represents a finger of a chord, with the first finger pressed starting at the top and going down. So a triad chord would take the first three slots. This is cool for creating an underlying rhythm and then having any other fingered chords play essentially another pattern in the same pattern, and changing when the fingerings of the same chord are pressed will change how the whole pattern is played, giving huge variation in the same pattern. And patterns can be up to 64 beats long. Patterns can be chained together for even longer durations.

It is hugely musical and I wish everyone that liked arps would buy a copy so Chris would be encouraged to update it. I'd love some CC outputs for instance.

It takes a three note chord and then applies a pattern to it, letting you decide where each finger will be played in what octave. I don't know what 'random' generation may be present, I don't see that, but you could say you may get 'random' results that you didn't expect when using it, actually that is a given, but you can also control nicely what it plays.

But I've found it less than stable with random crashes, not a good arp for performances, no program changes possible for instance, and lacking features like assignable start (I'd like a free mode, it just restarts with every chord which is often not what I need.) The concept is great, just the execution and support from the developer are crap.

"Random" was my wording, but a better phrase would probably be "fleshing out", based on your comment above, I understand now.

How does it compare with other midi-arps, like the Kirnu?
