If you open a DvA thread in KVR then it would be perfectly normal that loads of people will bash Analog and be absolutely certain that softex is from better to equal, and that tools do not really matter.

If you had opened a thread in a hardware forum, then any such claims would be highly laughable.

People had always and will always chose sides and fight fiercely to prove their point... if this did not happen then probably our history will have been alot less bloody... Boring!!!

So whether it is bollocks and derailed , is again personal opinion as is that analog is better/worse than softex/digimon.

An idiot on Set Theory:

Thanks, that was interesting!

However, the phrase I was referring to was that - in a synth DEMO - the music shouldn't distract from the sound quality.

As for marketing, it's obvious Native Instruments did everything right in that domain. They've got the most and probably best ads by far. But - apart from maybe Reaktor and Absynth - the basic sound falls far behind that.

I hardly ever base any buying decisions on marketing. Because once you know what's behind that and developed the critical thinking skills it's obvious that you can only loose that way. And many software developers do everything they can do make you believe the "emulation" is the same as the real thing. Which is a god damn lie, for profit. In the past I've wasted money because of these lies. So my main motivation is not to bash software, but to hold the people making money off lies accountable.

There's nothing wrong with software in general, I wouldn't want to use anything but my Reaper for working. But Arturia claiming or implying their Moog "emulation" to be as good as the real thing is plain wrong.

You guessed right. Somewhat. :-) A piece on that picture (or rather, something similar) was used for the demo I posted.

Could you provide some examples? I'm having a little difficulty working out how that might happen. Is there some combination of intervals that makes the sound quality seem worse?

you could probably sell that shit and buy a decent synth, and actually have the space to play it.

It's a serious question. I'd like to know how music detracts from a demo of a musical instrument.

Between 30 and 80 %.
