Meanwhile on AdmiralQuality's FB:
And speaking of KVR. Everyone here who's a member there should complain to site owner, Ben[KVR], that they're not keeping our products updated in their database. If you're going to suggest you have an inclusive database of all products, then you should keep it up to date.
A few years ago KVR downloaded the responsibility for maintaining the developer info on to the developers themselves. (Before that it used to magically just happen all by itself! We'd post a change on our website and KVR would be on it by the next day if not sooner!) Ben kicked me recently (for submitting a bug report and not being happy with his response) so I can't update it myself, but he promised to maintain our products in the database. He hasn't. (Big surprise.)
Many of our customers relied on the KVR database for update info (we don't currently ever mass email our customers and are unlikely to start). At the very least, if we're not going to be included there anymore, we'd like anyone following us to be sent a message saying so, so they know to check our site instead.

Anyway about those Poly-Ana skins. Has anybody heard from Limeflavour ? I sent him a PM. He's posted here and it sounded like he's working on a skin. That would be most welcome.

The Admiral being based in Canada, and with Canada's links to France, I must admit this is how I envision him:

BTW - Only the Quéquèque (is it spelled this way?) has ties to France, AFAIK. The other regions, or provinces, or whatever they call it over there, are anglophones.

So it looks that finally Teksonik and some others reached their goal.
I could no longer stand all that hate i received concerning my own approaches on a Poly-Ana skin (which IMO are good enough, especially the latest ones...). I will continue to use my own skins but no longer share any of them in this thread which IMO is totally ruined now.
I already deleted all my screenshots and download links from Dropbox so they will no longer work. Also deleted the corresponding download links here.
Possible that i will add certain comments here but no longer add screenshots etc.
Also possible that i start my own thread in the Soundware sub-forum but based on the experiences here that does not seem tobe a good idea.
Have a nice day.

Wow just wow. If you think what has happened here is "hate" how do you function in the real world ? You've got to have a thicker skin than that (pun intended). Maybe you live a sheltered existence but around here this kind of thing passes for pretty gentle ribbing.
Right now thread boredom is starting to set in and things are getting chippy.......everybody just take a deep breath. If you don't own Poly-Ana or don't plan on it then maybe your posting time would be better spent elsewhere
Anyway let's hope we can get some of the more well known Gui Artists involved because I think there could be some very interesting results. Let's try to regain focus.........

Yes back on focus! thrrad slightly sidetracked perhaps but not beyond saving! We've got a couple nice ones so far. Personally I'm quite happy with the hoverland skin (it is quite digital looking actually sort of like gladiator!) but I am still looking forward to what others come up with.

Yes, I also hope that the "usual suspects" do not succeed in getting this thread closed, because I think the subject deserved, it is in need, and we can all give contributions to make everything better. For this to happen, any message off-topic must be simply IGNORED.
If the trolls are ignored, they will give up, so what I ask to you, people interested in the topic is: stop answering provocations, and ignore trolling messages. That's what I have been doing. This way, we will manage to keep the topic alive. Now, are there more skins?

As already mentioned i have deleted all my screenshots + links here. If i intend to post any of my skins again i will either send the to Mike (who is VERY picky too so maybe this will not work...) or start my own thread. That way at least the links do not get "lost" somewhere in the thread and i will be able to lock the thread if the "usual suspects" (e.g. Teksonik and Kriminal) start to destroy it (or i will ask the mods to clean it if possible...).
I encourage those who are not interested in Poly-Ana or the skins to just ignore this thread or just the skins that you are not interested in.
Certain comments are useful (if they contain hints for imrovements like e.g. those from fmr yesterday) but others are not (like e.g. "you skins look really shitty").
Actually my own comments here became more aggressive recently due to aggressive comments i had received for m own contributions. This was leading to some comments by myself that were maybe not OK.
For those that are actually interested in Poly-Ana and the new skins i highly recommend to install the demo version and try the skins yourself (and not simply discuss based on screenshots posted here).
--------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE (on topic):
Ignoring that people here complained about the size of my current skin being too big i just did what i already wanted to do all the time and increased the size of my current skin from 1260x680 to 1512x816 which is a scaling of 120%. I have used a factor of 120% (or 1.2) for interpolation of the background image (increasing size with almost no loss in quality...), the knob sizes and also with the position values in the XML file (while some fine tuning will be necessary again). I will also keep the other smaller version.
The new size still works nicely on a Full HD display (1920 x 1080). I will never buy a Mac so i don't really care about certain strange display sizes of Macs.
Having a too small skin on a display with higher resolution IMO is almost as worse as having a too big one on a smaller display. Both options are not really great.
Anyway the small fonts in the current skins were justa size of 6 pixels which makes it difficult to get them really clear and/or sharp (even with anti-aliasing activated/added for texts).

That's very good advice. To that end I'll mute Ingo. His trolling is just too aggravating.fmr wrote: stop answering provocations, and ignore trolling messages
Ingo start your own thread please. I can promise you I will not visit it or post there. Oh and please do send your skins to Mike. He'll be happy to give you his opinion of them. In fact send him an e-mail today and ask him what he thinks.

Anyway, I've not heard back from Limeflavour yet. A couple of the other top Gui Artists have said they either have no time or no desire to create a skin for Poly-Ana. So if anybody has other artists they know please contact them to let them know of the free license offer and encourage them to do a skin for Poly-Ana.

Maybe? I've been reading this thread, and what I see is people trying to explain to you that your skins look amatuerish. It's clear you are not a talented skin designer ... what did you expect?Ingonator wrote:Actually my own comments here became more aggressive recently due to aggressive comments i had received for m own contributions. Instead of having some humility and recognizing that your skins are not that good, you insist on publishing them one after the other, on an almost hourly basis, and complaining when nobody likes them. The idea of this thread was to get some talented designers to make a usable and good looking GUI for Poly-Ana ... not for you to bombard it with your first attempts at skinning anything ever.
You get 5 stars for effort, but really, if you are going to publish your work on the internet you should learn to take critisism a little better.

You must be kidding me. Posting skins/screenshots and providing tips how to do certain things is trolling?Teksonik wrote: That's very good advice. To that end I'll mute Ingo. His trolling is just too aggravating.
My impression is that you have a total wrong understanding of your own role in this thread.
You are not the "big boss" here who decides who is allowed to post his skins or not (no matter how good or bad they are). Maybe next time such a thread is started you should mention "ONLY ALLOWED FOR PROFESSIONAL SKIN DESIGNERS".
