SJ_Digriz wrote:Simon, a couple of questions about the granular engine if you don't mind. I can't view the video where I am now .. so you may cover this in the video. Sorry if this is covered already.

Do we have directional control of the grains (reverse playback)?
If so can you split forward and reverse grains in the same patch?
Yes, there is a direction parameter like in HALion, as the oscillators work on keygroup level you could layer 2 keygroups and use positive direction values in one, and negative values in the other. Also there is a “Reverse“ button in the granular module which reverses each grain, this isn't covered in that video.

Thanks for your enthusiasm around Falcon, we’re very excited to hear what you create with it!

To MachFive3 owners, we hear you and understand.
We can’t comment just yet but please know that we’re working on something for you.
Expect concrete info early this next week.

Whatever the final form is, we’ll make sure it considers both users who have yet to purchase Falcon and those that already have.
,
My enthusiasm around Falcon has just gone through the roof! The roof is very damaged, as a result. But it's fine, as the money I spent on MachFive was, apparently, not just flushed down the toilet... (ongoing compatibility with the UVI libraries was something I absolutely took for granted w/MachFive.)

And I am gonna go ahead and get Falcon, as I am eager for the voucher and introductory offer, and obviously want to try it out ASAP. The safety net of the future announcement re: MachFive owners, and the fact the resolution will include those who get Falcon ahead of time, is what I was hoping for.

Thanks for the vids. However for some reason the texts are completely unreadable.

Will UVI Workstation be able to load Falcon instruments (with the new drunk LFO for example.. and other tidbits that were previously not in the UVI Workstation)?
I own MachFive 3, Falcon, and obviously UVIWorkstation.
  • My original MachFive programs/patches show up in the UVIWorkstation browser, but don't load.
  • My original Falcon programs also show up in the UVIWorkstation browser, but don't load.
  • The Falcon factory library shows up in UVIWorkstation, and all presets I've tried loaded.
  • Falcon loads both my Falcon programs (*.uvip) and my MachFive programs (*.M5p)
So, does the latest UVI Workstation have the technologies required to play Falcon patches? Yes it does.

Can you load your own Falcon/MachFive patches into UVI Workstation? Doesn't look like it; at least it's not working here.

I believe UVI Workstation is to Falcon what Kontakt Player is to Kontakt in that the free player is only intended for licensed content, not user-generated libraries.
Thank you!!!

I see the best price (in Germany) from the UVI site. Best service (my prefered reseller) is more expensive, even with the halloween discount....
No, that´s wrong. Best service is much cheaper.
UVI Site 202,66 without Mehrwertsteuer
Best service -20 € Halloween Voucher I paid 184,03 without Mehrwertsteuer
That´s a saving of 18,63 €
I thought for some reason the vat is included when i watch the prices in euro from germany on the UVI site..... Yeah, then the mighty best service is cheaper with the halloween voucher.
If i now could demo it........
Must think about it until the intro price is still on. The additional library voucher is a good thing too.
Undecided yet........

Yep, the resolution of the Retina screen is too much for Camtasia at that screen size, will zoom in next time, but too late now.

Thanks for the video anyway, Simon! Can't read the text either on my big monitor, and I don't have Retina, but I'll watch it anyway, and "read between the lines." I'm about to be pushed off the fence into "Falcon Territory" anyway, and Olivier's promise to help out us MachFive Three owners is a help! The fact that Falcon can load your M53 libraries as well as the factory content is a big plus too. I'm just about sold...

Next question... (sorry). Can i use reversed reverb like in Alchemy 2?
I saw now in the best service shop it will raise up to 375€ after intro. Now that 219€ (with voucher) sounds not bad.
This whole thing looks really like a whole DAW without sequencer :)

Falcon has a convolution reverb (no, it has 2 different ones), load reversed IRs or anything you would like to resonate, but there is no reverse switch in those modules.

Since the convolution uses the same WaveEditor as sample oscillators, you can just right-click the IR and choose "Reverse". But you can do many more like crop, fade in/out, apply any falcon fx on the IR... etc

Sorry, I'm a little late to the party and I'm not sure I can catch up all posts. Is there something like a rough change log for MachFive 3 -> Falcon somewhere or can someone summarise the main points? Thanks a lot!

There is a specific list of new features in the beta program FAQ. It dates back to May 20 so I don't know how all inclusive it is, but if a UVI rep following this thread gave me permission I'd repost that list here. There is a lot.

Does anyone know how to get started with the synthesis modules? I can load rex loops , my existing UVI libraries , but cannot for the life of me figure out how to load the synthesis patches . I keep looking into the manual but it's mostly screen shots and descriptions. I do not see anywhere where to load the Analog stacks , etc. Am I missing something ?

Post

From empty patch press Ctrl+N to create a new keygroup that has the Analog oscillator loaded by default.

First create a program in the Tree vie on the left - right click-> New Program, then right click->Add Layer, then right click->Add Keygroup, now choose a synthesis type from the oscillator drowdown menue and off you go. Maybe save a template for each synthesis type later.
