Just realized one very important point from the old idea tool is gone but I would still really need it:

- the ability too save the "idea" components of the song and the tracks. In the old tool it was possible, you can just save the generated tracks with the phrases and load it in another song
...
Hope that could be possible to add in some way.

Yes, of course this was not forgotten but not yet added. As soon as all bugs are eliminated, saving idea presets will be possible.

New update: v3.0b16 is available!

Thanks for all the feedback and reporting bugs! This update fixes the problems with the Idea Tool, and has improvements for note coloring and shading based on 'Note On' velocity. I hope you'll like the changes.

3.0Beta16 changes:

• Note colors and shading by velocity reworked. You can set up your own preferred look under Settings / User Interface by specifying color saturation and brightness for different velocity values. Few presets are provided.
• There are new note color options in the phrase editor.
• New option for ghost phrases in the phrase inspector: "Inhibit Copying Variations".
• Undo is possible after using the Idea Tool.
• Bug fix: "Use Existing Melody Track Then Harmonize..." did not work. Now the melody track remains, ready for successive harmonization
• Bug fix: "Generate Melody Track Then Harmonize" did not work
• Bug fix: fixed screen redraw bug when using 'Use Existing Melody Track Then...' or 'Generate Melody Track Then...' with the Idea Tool
• Bug fix: fixed a bug when previewing a phrase in the phrase inspector messed up the 'phrase history'
• Bug fix: fixed a bug when removing a variation from the idea tool
• Bug fix: track variations were not applied to generated ghost phrases
• Bug fix: 'Apply Rhythm' added to the idea variations did not show the rhythm
• Bug fix: "Lock Phrase" works better for chords containing 7th or 9th note
• Bug fix: an annoying issue was fixed when typing chord names

will it be possible to use an imported Melody wich is NOT generated from the idea tool and of course has no phrases ?

Dear tatanka,
yes, it should work with an imported melody track. It is best not to convert the melody notes when importing, just leave them as absolute MIDI notes if you don't want to do anything with them. After generating tracks, the melody track does not disappear (as it did in the previous version), and you can harmonize it many times if you want.

I have not forgot about saving idea settings, it will be added in the next 2-3 days.

Did you disable av and firewall first?
Maybe you can tell avast to allow that file?

Of course not! Doing that would remove all protection in the event that the file is infected! The last beta download I did did not produce this warning.

Again, this was not a "this file is unknown" warning, rather, a "this file is a known threat and was deleted" warning! I guess I don't need/want the beta bad enough to risk it!

I am certain this was a false positive John, but I can understand your aprehension.

You may want to send it to the Avast team to analyse. I don't know them but the Norton team acts pretty quickly when this happens.

Of course, you can do as MG suggests, and I am confident there are no infections in the beta, but if you feel uncertain you should definitley go with your best judgement. I'm a bit paranoid when it comes to system security but have not run across anything yet in the beta's to cause alarm.

It must be a false positive. Firewall and antivirus are active all the time on the development system, and I refrain from running suspicious applications. I am frightened when such an issue is reported as I have a huge responsibility.
