Hi folks!
Just to report that thanks to some great feedback from the team at Cakewalk/Bandlab, I was able to track-down a bug in Wotja that was causing an issue with Cakewalk not displaying pop-up menus properly from the VST3 version of Wotja.
We'll push this update as soon as we've done some internal testing.
Best wishes to all, and many thanks to the Cakewalk team at Bandlab!
Pete

They are great guys! Members of the previous core Cakewalk Sonar development team, including Noel Borthwick (CTO), came over to BandLab from the Gibson/Cakewalk company when it was shuttered in 2017. They are collectively knows as "The Bakers".impete wrote: Mon Jan 17, 2022 3:27 pm Best wishes to all, and many thanks to the Cakewalk team at Bandlab!
Since 2018 they have implemented countless bug fixes and stability improvements for the free DAW, as well as some interesting new features.

I have close to 100 Wave plugins and they all scan fine, but none of them are version 10. It may be an older version of a plugin that is causing the problem. Unfortunately, with Waves, you have to WUP your plugins in order to get the latest version and that can get expensive if you have a lot of older ones.ZincT wrote: Mon Jan 17, 2022 11:31 amGood point and I realised that I had previously just moved all of the Waveshells en-masse to get rid of the crashing problem.
So, this morning I tested each one of the nine in my VST3 folder by adding them back individually until I got a crash and there was only one which caused a crash:
WaveShell5-VST3 10.0_x64.vst3
Of course there is the other issue raised by @courtjestr that my WaveShell5-VST3 10.0_x64 will probably include a different set of Waves plugins than other people's. So it needs some kind of catchall for Waveshells.
FYI, my TR5 Sunset Sound Studio Reverb.vst3 (5.8.0) also scans fine.

+1 to zzz00m 's message. The bakers are a great bunch of devs and super helpful considering it's now a free DAW.

I even have some old v9 Waves plugins that I never bothered to keep up to date as I no longer use them, so these aren't installed. The v10 plugins do work fine even without updates and they also scan OK on every other DAW/host. I recently WUP'd a bunch of my most used Waves plugins (actually took advantage of a great upgrade price on Gold to Platinum) so most of my current plugins are v13.courtjestr wrote: Mon Jan 17, 2022 4:07 pm

hi pete, i just picked up 22.0.9 from the Windows store. congrats on the update release!
when i fired up the stand-alone, it correctly asked me if I want to update my VST, but then it gave an error saying to make sure to either run Wotja as Administrator or that it was not already in use.
well, i am the administator on my system, and Wotja was not in use. so, i'm not sure what happened there.
i went ahead and updated the VST manually, and tested the transport sync in both Ableton Live 11 and Waveform 11 and both the transport and tempo synced nicely in both DAWs. thanks for making that happen.
i know you are waiting to hear back from the Tracktion developers, and i'm really hoping you can get the MIDI output working in Waveform. meanwhile, did you notice the new post in your thread on the Tracktion forum? i wonder if that gives any insight?

I think you actually need to specifically run the app as Administrator, for it to work as intended!JamminFool wrote: Tue Jan 18, 2022 1:16 pm hi pete, i just picked up 22.0.9 from the Windows store. congrats on the update release!

Certainly, that is what I've found.
Right-click the app, and select "Run as Administrator"
Do please let me know how you get on!
That is excellent - thank you for letting me know!i went ahead and updated the VST manually, and tested the transport sync in both Ableton Live 11 and Waveform 11 and both the transport and tempo synced nicely in both DAWs. thanks for making that happen.
Aha, thank you - I'd not been notified of any replies, so wasn't aware that more stuff has been posted on the thread. I've just taken a look. No response yet from the devs, btw.i know you are waiting to hear back from the Tracktion developers, and i'm really hoping you can get the MIDI output working in Waveform. meanwhile, did you notice the new post in your thread on the Tracktion forum? i wonder if that gives any insight?

yeah, i saw on the windows store that i need to run the app in administrator mode, rather than just have administrator privileges. i'm not sure how useful that will be in actual use.impete wrote: Tue Jan 18, 2022 3:21 pmI think you actually need to specifically run the app as Administrator, for it to work as intended!JamminFool wrote: Tue Jan 18, 2022 1:16 pm hi pete, i just picked up 22.0.9 from the Windows store. congrats on the update release!

1. Placed Wotja on track #1, selected a preset and started playback.
2. Set the input for track #2 to "Route MIDI from Track 1".
Discovered that track #2 then plays a parallel audio output from track #1, but no MIDI. It's almost as if Tracktion has misidentified the audio/MIDI outputs provided by Wotja. Weird, right?
