Bitwig's Instrument Layer Device has none of that functionality that makes Live's Racks so great.bulusglo wrote:I thought that a click on the Inst Layer device's gear icon would bring some layer settings similar to Live's instrument rack ...ZenPunkHippy wrote:Here's a screen shot of a keyboard split using the built in poly synth.
"Note Filter" on the right is inside "Note FX" for the poly synth. Each synth in the Instrument Layer device is assigned a different range of notes. In this case the top synth is only playing bass notes (0 - 48). The next 2 instrument layers play higher notes, hard panned left / right. Unique effects may be assigned to each instrument since each layer is basically a complete device chain.
Peace,
Andy.

Personally it looks more comparable to a Live Standard + as it looks much more usable than the synthless Live Standard with better fx, although I dont know what kind of sampled content it brings that may tip things.
Really I would love to see much ITB!

Can I change the colors of things in Bitwig, like for instance the piano roll's background?
I prefer a darker background.... it's more inspiring, I think...

haha!
Well, it wasn't that long ago that (and not an unreasonable conclusion) it was vaporware
So, this is a step the right direction.
I'll live vicariously through, but still, the fact that it's a week away is very interesting.

For those nagging about not being able to sidechain, Dom from Bitwig touches on that in this video from SOS, uploaded 4 hours ago or so.
I seriously can not wait to start playing with this

Pure speculation at this point: nothing has officially been confirmed by Bitwig nor did any of the Betatesters mention it. Isn't it odd that of all the cat pictures we have, NONE of them have a cat and Bitwig Studio together?Suloo wrote:pro = Bitwig is friendly to Cats
I can almost guarantee that the next update of Live WILL have this feature though.
