I 100% agree with that, but the the release curve in the stock Avenger init patch is set rather extreme concave, and might give a new user an impression of a abnormal short release time, compared with other synths when turning the the knob for longer release.magickalmutagen wrote:Be aware though, concave decay and release curves tend to sound more natural to the ear than linear/convex ones.

This will make it super easy and creative to be able to select exactly where you want to play from and the length. Using this visual method, rather than turning a dial or mod wheel will make granular synthesis playback much more intuitive, specific, creative and musical.

Yes, the release curve is extreme, but really my fault for not reading the manual/tutorials. I didn't even see the inner knob. Well, I saw it .. but didn't guess what it did or how to turn it so I ignored it.
Changing the default doesn't matter much for folks who already own it and use it, but might be a consideration for those demoing it.

Hello,
when publishing a sound bank, it contains all my presets, drumkits, sequences, samples, shapes and wavetables, but the folder with my new arp patterns is missing. The folder is under settings -> arpeggiator. Does anybody know how I can include this folder into the file I want to publish? I can't find it in the manual.
Thanks in advance!

just an explanation about the Release / Decay curves:
if the curve is in the middle (default) it *may* appear linear (the graphic is linear) but in reality its not. Volume (dB) is not a linear scale, its exponential (means, dB falls equally to 0 is an exponential function) - in fact if you want to have a linear fade out of the volume, the curve must be bended downwards logarithmically. May sound strange, but thats the case.
So this acutally means: when you have set Release or Decay Curve to the default in Avenger, they might look (graphically) linear, but they are only linear to your ears, but in fact, they are not linear.
Avengers default (inner ring set to middle) sounds very organic and pleasant to the ear, so thats acutally the best and most analog sounding setting you can have.
in the next update we will fix our default INIT preset, to have the curve value on middle

I actually spent a good portion of today examining the difference between the amp's env and an external mod env and noticed there was something odd going on. For example, a 2 second release on a mod env only drops 30dB in the same time that a 2 second release on an amp env drops around 65dB (both set to visually linear). Thanks for the clarification though, this is good info. It's a shame it seems to be hard to get the mod env sounding as nice as the amp's envelope (even when I bend the mod env downwards) else I'd probably always prefer using a mod env. I guess this is because the default (visually linear) curve for the amp's release is a very specific curve. I know I should have been using my ears better, but I can stop bending my amp curves nowmsvs wrote:if the curve is in the middle (default) it *may* appear linear (the graphic is linear) but in reality its not. Is the amp's attack also curved despite looking linear? It sounds linear to my ears. I want my envelope to sound similar to those found on analogue hardware (I have no hardware to compare to). Would I just leave all curves visually linear then?

thats because of the "analog behaviour" simulation the amp has. The modenv is "mathematically digital"Thanks for the clarification though, this is good info. It's a shame it seems to be hard to get the mod env sounding as nice as the amp's envelope
no the amp is actually "what you see is what you get". A strict and real linear attack sounds better on pads, than a curved oneIs the amp's attack also curved despite looking linear?
here is another one, showing the Granular Library a bit closer

Maybe in the future it'll be possible to use these special amp envelopes as mod sources? Currently an oscillator has to be routed to an amp to be able to use its envelope. It would be cool if I could route Osc 1 to Amp 1, but use Amp 2's env on Osc 1 parameters. In fact, it is possible, but only the other way around (route Osc 1 to Amp 2 and use Amp 1's env on Osc 1 parameters). Is this expected or a bug?msvs wrote:because of the "analog behaviour" simulation the amp has.

Update looking great.
Thanks Manuel. Do you think it might be possible in future to be able to toggle any source between normal and granular mode in the editor?msvs wrote:double clicking on the category (left collumn) "granular" opens and empty granular. You can drag / drop your own samples there

Would be almost as cool and seriously useful if there were a recorder function, perhaps like Reaktor's Recorder, that one could play into, then from which one could simply drag recordings into the granular interface.

Avenger was already my favorite synth.
Great sound and so easy to program,
But with granular synthesis added ... !!!
