- As I understand it, convo verb are only as good as their IRs. Altiverb continually updates their library with top notch IRs from world class locations. Does the library for Reverberate continually get updated as well or is it more for finding your own IRs and loading them in?
- Although IRs make the biggest difference, I believe there's something to be said for reproducing those IRs accurately. Altiverb's IRs (or at least the reproduction) along with Revolver are much more natural and useful than Waves version (IMO). How does everybody feel about Reverberate's quality?
Thanks!
The IR library in Reverberate does get updates, there was a fairly large one in 1.800, but it's not intended to be of the type that Altiverb has. Altiverb already exists, so I don't see the value in copying it's approach, rather Reverberate is about providing great tools to help craft new spaces and enrich others (for example via modulation, adding sheen, using recallable post effects creatively) using the hundreds of excellent IR libraries that others have produced as a base; many other convolvers don't provide the means to do that.
In terms of quality, I've worked hard to implement a very efficient convolution algorithm that is also very accurate, but it's probably for others to make the comparisons.
I'm glad the AAX Native 64-bit plugin is getting noticed, a lot of the Reverberate code needed to be customised for the platform, the GUI needed to be updated to sit well in that environment (VST and AU users really benefitted from this too) and optimising for the Pro Tools workflow (especially preset management) took quite a lot of time.
