Oups. It's doing it again. No idea what's going on. Now it says Harddisk5\DR5
What's weird is I only get this with the latest dll. I will wait for your next update and see if that solves the problem. No worries.

Thx for the updated version.
Now sorry for being slow here, and I've read the last pages but still don't get what the new config.txt file is for? The first line is to set the path to PhenomeData but I have no such folder anywhere and it can't be to the folder where the SynthEdit files as that's where the config file is by default..
Everything works fine without the first line being changed in config.txt and I understand the second line is to set the path to my main SF2 folder but that line is not active yet, is that right?

This config.txt file is currently only for the Factory Library and for upcoming Expansions to work correctlyV'ger wrote:Thx for the updated version.

Right, the second line won't be read out at the moment. To be implemented in one of the next updates

Just tested v1.7. The additional reverb and filter effect at the bottom make the GUI too tall. I'm not able to fit the entire GUI comfortably in my 15.4" widescreen laptop. I'm also having problems with the new browser set-up. I get these occasional odd beeping sounds when navigating through my sf2 files. There's also this strange jumping around behavior that's hard to describe. Also, if I load a soundfont that has a lot of different sounds (some have as many as 127), that extra browser window behaves strangely and looks confusing. In v1.64, it was easier for me to just click the soundfont and choose which sound I wanted to use. All in all, I prefer v1.64.

Not sure what you mean by odd beeping sounds?
Yes, that "browser jumping" will be fixed in the future. Will just take some time. I think you mean that the selected Patch/SF2 "jumps" down on the list?
What do you mean with strange behaviour with more than 127 patches? Care to share which soundfont "does" this? Would love to test it myself.
EDIT: Got it, the scrollbar is the problem here because its very big then somehow... got what you mean. Will find a way to improve it
Thanks!

So PhenomeData is a specific SF2 soundset and nothing to do with the datafiles or anything to do with the VST at all?sonicfire wrote:This config.txt file is currently only for the Factory Library and for upcoming Expansions to work correctly
Maybe an idea to call it something else or explain it in the first post or others might be just as confused as me seing as there are pages about its path etc when it is not really relevant to the VST itself and the Factory soundset is always called something else.

It's hard to describe the beeping sounds. It's sort of like I'm trying to navigate through a lot of soundfonts and the computer responds with this strange beep. It's like it's telling me not to do that.
As far as the jumping around, it's not the standard jumping to the bottom which I don't find problematic. It was just randomly jumping around on it's own. Like I say, these behaviors are difficult to describe.
As per the new browser behavior, could you load something like a GM soundfont created by someone else that has a lot of different sounds and observe what happens?

You are right, guess its about time to overwork the first post of this threadV'ger wrote:So PhenomeData is a specific SF2 soundset and nothing to do with the datafiles or anything to do with the VST at all?sonicfire wrote:This config.txt file is currently only for the Factory Library and for upcoming Expansions to work correctly

And yes, this config file is only relevant for the Expansions and/or for the Factory Library!

Weird. No beeping or something like this here at all...DJ_Bach wrote:It's hard to describe the beeping sounds. It's sort of like I'm trying to navigate through a lot of soundfonts and the computer responds with this strange beep. It's like it's telling me not to do that.

It also doesn't jump randomly! Sounds to me like something with automation going on or so ... or not retrieving data fast enough. Hard to tell, of course.
Concerning the browser behaviour, yes, i just did that with a big GM SF2 file - it works fine!

Cheers
Btw, for Reaper users, the fix to have Phenome remember and open to your SF2 collection is to load a SF to Phenome from there and save that track as a track template.
Something you probably want to do anyway with a multi-output configuration etc.
Then it's just a matter of opening that track template and it's all ready to go.

I decided to start over and download a fresh version of 1.7. Happy to report that the beeping sounds and jumpy behavior are gone. Yes the bank browser can sometimes get a little crowded. Loading previous soundfonts create different combinations of numbers to the left (sometimes with a scrollbar) and patch names to the right (also sometimes with a scrollbar). But all the info is relevant and needed.
If I move the GUI so that only the very top is hidden under the transport bar, I can view the whole interface. So this is my workaround.
The pitch envelope is nice. Basically, everything is working fine.
