Indeed, Atlantis is not bad at all and has a clever GUI, don't know why it's been passed up really. Will include in next vote.

Also ran across this: Twisted Energy... anyone tried it? The GUI looks pretty, at least:

... annoying sign-in / 'like on Facebook' downloads, though.

They do amazing GUIs now but never had a favorable view of their plugs tbpf.
But it reminds me there is a free cross-platform NI synth; Mikro Prism. Trouble is it needs Reaktor Player installed. They're both free so doable, but maybe a hassle to install everything and I seem to have heard NI have messy installers to begin with..
Sounds good for plucks tho:
Any other cross-platform synths we haven't used that's worthy of mention?

I didn't see anything about their commercial effects that were particularly interesting, either. The synth looks like it has reasonably good capabilities, if only there is sound to back it up...V'ger wrote:They do amazing GUIs now but never had a favorable view of their plugs tbpf.
Not sure if these are necessarily worthy of mention:V'ger wrote:Any other cross-platform synths we haven't used that's worthy of mention?
Something completely different: Jasuto Modular? Looks like it may be very limited in the 'free' version, though: http://www.jasuto.com/home/
Ugly but... is the sound any good? daHornet http://nusofting.liqihsynth.com/freeplugins.html
Also, I don't know how many people would be interested in low-cost commercial synths, but this one seems to have a pretty good reputation having been included in a top 20 synth list with a bunch of others I would include: Phosphor
http://www.audiodamage.com/instruments/ ... ?pid=AD027
Also, on a completely unrelated note... what's the synth in the main page picture?

The Reaktor Player stuff isn't too bad on install.
DaHornet's raspy (as you'd expect). I love it, but work not on the Mac (at least not for me).
+1 Phosphor, though I think you'd be hard pressed to make a track out of it unless you really dig ambient. It's just a lot more limited. Can do some great space-invador percussion with the noise, tho

If you are considering low cost vst, I suggest Synape Dune.
You can get Dune CM version (without effects and max.128 preset under management). All costs around 7,5 pounds (included delivery) of May CM's issue.
One issue... only in Europe you have to wait 2 weeks to get the CM on your desk.

Model-E could make for a very fun contest.V'ger wrote:Any other cross-platform synths we haven't used that's worthy of mention?
One of the very first released commercial VST's - Part of synth history!
Revamped and released for free by Steinberg:

Will check the old Model E again, but long been toying with the idea of a magazine OSC as in free choice of any mag synth (and maybe effects too), what thinks? Firebird is also full version in Beat I believe.

A good idea, but is it easy/quick to get hands on these magazines? And older issues with specific plugins?V'ger wrote:... long been toying with the idea of a magazine OSC as in free choice of any mag synth ...

But wasn't it some trouble using Falkenmedia for non-Germans? Seem to have heard it couldn't be done or was difficult.
Downloadable mags would of course be that much more practical, we could wait to see how that pans out.
So anyone else keen on the Any Magware OSC or too much hassle to get for those who haven't gotten one already? Wait for CM download?
But to be fair, top stuff like VAZ Plus goes for £14.99 which is not far off mag prize and VAZ also deserves something for being one of the first softsynths and still sounding awesome today. Would also fit the KVR One-Synth-Challenge.

Yes, I read a post about that not long ago; it sounded like ultimately it worked but took a long time and was a big hassle for at least one person.V'ger wrote:But wasn't it some trouble using Falkenmedia for non-Germans? Seem to have heard it couldn't be done or was difficult.
Absolutely, here!V'ger wrote:Downloadable mags would of course be that much more practical, we could wait to see how that pans out.

No argument there, either; and also plenty of good looking cross-platform synths in the <= $50 US range, including those from the Korg Legacy Collection, like the Wavestation, which would make a very intersting OSC, in my opinion. Or the Glass Viper.V'ger wrote:But to be fair, top stuff like VAZ Plus goes for £14.99 which is not far off mag prize and VAZ also deserves something for being one of the first softsynths and still sounding awesome today. But I still to finish my track for this month - hit a bit of a creative wall

the Korgs should be great.
But notice how few free usable cross-platform synths, only one of TAL's left really.z.prime wrote:http://www.kvraudio.com/q.php?search=1& ... bl%5B%5D=t

It's not easy to order from Falkemedia if you are living in USA. It says "State invalid" during Paypal payment and does not allow to move forward. I tried so many times and then gave up. I heard they use different Paypal version. Anyway, long story short, no one wants to go through the hassle.
CM is fine, you can get it from B&N but select a synth which is already released in the past issue cause it takes 4-6 weeks for the latest issue to get here. I was at B&N this Saturday and they still don't have the April issue.
Are we moving from freeware to payware/magware? Sorry I have not read the posts before this page but is there any specific reason for the same?
