I'm on win 10 and I just got it to freeze up on me. I'm testing S1 4.6 EzK & ExB. Should be the latest versions. The first time seemed like it was going to work, but I dropped it in the wrong place. Now it just shows "Dragging MIDI Track 'channel 0' (from start to end)" and I can't click on anything. I have to force close s1.
I will play with it some more. On a side note I didn't have the window "pinned" and s1 can act funny sometimes when doing DnD.
I'm still playing with it, but after adding them to S1, it opened back up after closing it.

Edit: Yeah I hosed it completely. The cursor also shows the file icon still attached to the mouse pointer. I'm assuming I need to clear a cache that got corrupted? I think since I made a mistake the first time, now it's having trouble reading and writing the exported file?

Nevermind it seems to work now. I'm on RC 4.03 and every thing seems to work fine. I can DnD to and from EzK and RC. I can also reopen the project. EzK wasn't syncing up the other day, so I'm not sure what I was doing wrong. I'm assuming it might have something to do with pinning the VST window.

There's definitely a problem running RC as VST in Studio One with EZ-Keys. I just started a new project, loaded in those plugins, created a chord progression in RC. I avoided pinning VST windows or drag from one VST to another. This time I dragged a progression from RC to my desktop, then dragged that file into EZ-Keys. A few minutes later, Studio One crashed to the desktop.

I use Studio One frequently with assorted plugins from many developers. Something about this S1 / RC / EZKeys combo is making my PC and S1 very unhappy.

Hi,

When Auto-Harmonizing a phrase, one of the options is:

End With: When it is possible (the melody notes allow) you can force the harmonization to end with a chord. Possible choices are Any, I, With Perfect Cadence (I-V-I), With Imperfect Cadence (II-V-I).

How I would interpret this wrt. ending on I (either directly or via a cadence) is that if the Auto-Harmonizing -ever- comes up with an ending on I then it should -always- come up with an ending on I.

IOW, ending on I is either possible or impossible (depending on if the melody notes allow).

If you've chosen the option, and it is possible, it should always happen, yes?

However, what I'm observing is many cases where sometimes it ends on I and sometimes it does not. Is this a bug?

RC has crashed S1 4.6.2 a couple of times for me, but it didn't crash when I tested this. I only had the two plugins loaded. I dragged a phrase from the examples folder into RC track, then dragged that track to the desktop. I then dragged that file into Ez-keys and it worked without crashing S1. Am I missing something? I think you're using V5?

Yes, I'm using Studio One v5. I just repeated your steps and S1 froze and became unresponsive. I wonder if it's a graphical issue. Everything else on my system is fine, but S1 freezes its image in place on my screen and stops responding to mouse or keyboard commands.

S1 v5 has been 100% stable for me with all of the dozens of plugins I regularly use. Something about RC and EZKeys together is causing this, it seems to me.

what version of RC you guys using?

There was a function that was removed from previous versions of RC that caused a UI problem in RC and EzKeys, but, it was added back in in the beta 5 of RC and that corrected the UI problems.

The function is an internal programming thing, so, it nothing that is user selected..

Make sure, if you are using the beta RC, to have the latest version.. (RC Beta 4.1b5)

Thanks for your reply, BluGenes. I've learned a lot from you about RC since I began reading the forum here.

I'm using RC Beta 4.1b5. I see a an option in Miscellaneous VST settings to "Open RapidComposer in a separate window." Might that help? I can give it a try.

Yep, that did the trick. Turning on "Open RapidComposer in a Separate Window" in RC Miscellaneous / VST settings solved it. Solid, no freezes or crashes.

S1 supposedly has limited DND functionality, but you can hold the Ctrl key and drag the name of the track from RC to S1. I drag the files from S1 file browser to RC, because I can use the s1 preview to audition the midi along with the RC tracks.

It started doing strange things for me, and come to find out the sync settings had changed. I had to change both host and time signature back to use from host.

I've found the best option is to CTL-Drag out of RC into my file manager. Then, as @Topcheese suggested, I use S1's file browser to import into Studio One, and that is working perfectly for me.

Post

I'm also feeding RC out to Maschine, which is setup with drum, bass, and keys. This way I'm able to adjust the starting note number when auditioning different drum kits with the S1 preview. Then all I have to do is switch tracks in S1 to be able to audition any midi file playing along with RC.

I managed to reproduce this when dragging from RC to the EZkeys tab at the top of the window.
The problem is that Studio One closes and deletes the RapidComposer window during the drag operation which is not nice. There is no sensible fix for this but I inserted a workaround so this works now (in the next beta version, hopefully today).

I have access only to Studio One 4, so I could not reproduce the crashes with Studio One 5.

EDIT: please let me know if there is a specific sequence of operations that I should test with Studio One.

Thanks!
