As another person that was a bit puzzled about where to find the updated factory content, if I may make a few suggestions:

There really should be a link on all the main Vengeance pages. Basically there should be an "ACCOUNT" tab beside the other tabs (Home, Plugins, Sound/Samples, ACCOUNT, Support, Testimonials).

The title tag in the HTML of the register.vps-avenger.com page should be "AVENGER ACCOUNT". Not just "AVENGER". You should also add an URL to your DNS system so that account.vps-avenger.com points to the same page as register.vps-avenger.com. (It should really be the other way round. "account" should be the main URL and "register" should point to that. That would make more sense from a customer perspective).

It would be nice if one could choose the destination location to save new updates instead of the plugin saving the updates to the desktop. (This applies to all Vengeance plugins). Saving to the desktop is a messy solution IMO.

Ok, the updated content is now downloaded. Time for fun! :)

Hi,

this seems to be a great update feature wise. I played around with some granular examples and love the sound. Instant drone madness.

But... I have a really high end laptop (Win 64 2017 i7, Nvidea P3000 professional graphics card, 16 Gig Ram, 2xSSD) where V1.1 was not producing much overhead, but where I now have a constant 13%-15% drain on all four cores once Avenger has been started. That cpu use goes down only after I have deleted Avenger from the Ableton tracks.

I have tried to move the CPU drain to the GPU by forcing the use of the graphics card, but that does not work at all. It is like with my previous laptop, also not really slow, where this mysterious CPU use in Ableton (and Bitwig btw.) was normal.

For now, this update does not work for me, I like to use my midi synths until the last possible moment bf. rendering audio. Is anyone else experiencing this, and if so, what is to be done?

Best,

K

The idea being that if you clicked a button (arrow, whatever), the Avenger window itself would extend the width of the window to the right
some people already complain, that the GUI is too big.
It is indeed too big. If you set the size to 100% it doesn't even fit on a HD screen but the problem is the vertical size, not the horizontal size. That said, I agree that pop-outs are not ideal.
But what we planned is, to extend the ModMatrix via extend-button inside the existing GUI oder the Filter and Amp section, the full right side.
Please don't! I think enough people here have expressed that we want to see all these parameters at the same time. That is a important for basic sound design IMO.
The discussion to do it inside the preset browser is still on the table, but I am still a bit uncomfortable with the look, when havin it in the upper left corner.
Please don't choose form over function! IMO this would be a huge step back!

As others have pointed out, when working on a patch the preset browser is a complete waste of space. Also, although it is nice to have the FX section visible at all times, I think it is less important than having the mod matrix visible at the same time as the other basic functions of the synthesis engine. Having the mod matrix span the height of the preset browser and the FX section would be great! Even if it is just an option.

Maybe if you click on the "modulation tab" (assuming it is added to that section) it first just replaces the preset browser and if you click it again it spans the full height. You could even do this for all tabs there. So the same would apply to the preset tab: Click once and it is as it is now, click again and it spans the full height of that area including the current FX section. This would be a nice improvement when browsing files too.
Something else, please add more Macro knobs, maybe make the keyboard ridable and instead show more macro knobs
I don't think this will happen. We currently have 3 knobs, 2 buttons, a pitch and a modwheel to assign in every preset. When releasing an expansion, assigning them with cool stuff already takes almost longer than the actual preset design. Many other 3rd party sound designers, not even bother to assign the already existing macros completely.
This is a pity. :( I also find that 3 macro buttons is way too little. Even the 4 macro's in Serum is IMO not nearly enough. I would like to have 8. (And the ability to hide the keyboard, pitch and mod wheel. I have a MIDI keyboard for that).

I usually want more macro's for my own presets but also, if I use an existing preset and I just want to add a "permanent" modulation for another parameter, it is currently a royal pain in the backside. Either I have to go through the whole modulation matrix and figure out if I can remove one of the existing macros and how that will affect the sound or otherwise not have a permanent modulation macro option.

I often reuse presets (either my own or existing presets I have modified for my own use) and it is great to be able to open a preset and instantly see the main modulation macro's that are relevant for the sound. Massive is still one of the best in this regard. 8 Macro's that you can rename. Open an old preset and you instantly see the most important parameters and what they do. (Many controllers like Maschine come with 8 control knobs. People have though about this. It makes perfect sense! :) ).

So having 8 macros is not just about direct control in an existing project, it is about making reusable presets which are instantly clear to use. In other words, it is an advantage from a preset librarian point of view too. It is a shame that some 3rd party sound designers don't use the macro system at all but that doesn't mean macro's aren't useful or that adding more macro knobs wouldn't be an improvement for people that like to use macro systems extensively.
I think it might be a great thing to have a 2 level tab navigation and that the whole left column is used.
not liking this idea, sorry. I think the Effects area is too important, it must be there permanently. Furthermore there is no need for a full height preset browser / category tabs
This is a matter of opinion. For complex sound design, the mod matrix is IMO as important if not more important than the FX. Well they are both important. See my "multi-size on click" suggestion above.

Hey guys, so excited about the update but I can't drag and drop the keyfile in Cubase Pro 8.5 running a Windows operating system. Everytime I try to drag and rop it the mouse turns into a stop sign and nothing works. Right now I can't use the expansion I bought nor the new factory content granular synthesis won't work correctly. Any suggestions?

Close Cubase and reopen as administrator (right click Cubase icon, run as administrator). Should work now...

Unfortunately not, I am running Cubase always as Administrator, still not working.

the next version, which will come tomorrow I guess, will have an import dialog, so you have an alternative to drag and drop

the problem with the invisible XP, we are aware of, too. Hope to fix this also

For those having issues on Windows and Cubase, there is an easy fix till the update comes out-

Delete the keyfile.

Goto C:\ProgramData\Vengeance\Avenger and delete the key. When you start up Cubase and Avenger it will ask you to load a keyfile. You are fixed and can play with your new sounds.

Can someone maybe give more infos?

@granular xp

How many drones/soundscapes are in there?
And are they good?

I wanna maybe get the xp to learn the workflow more and see the capabilities for dark ambience.

Thx

FYI that's not working for me here. I get a page asking for a download code - when I paste mine in (with hyphens) it just says "error invalid code". If I go to the register site, I'm already logged in, so can download from there OK.
You have to click on top of the page to access your account.
Ah there it is, thanks Ryan.

It's all incredibly unclear.... when the dust settles on the lovely 1.2.0 I think a couple of days redoing the website for clarity wouldn't hurt...
