who changed? how do you know?
i think it's unfair to judge. walk a mile in someone's shoes.. face that person's challenges etc etc.. then you can make statements. until then though.. you really only have conjecture and circumstance to base your assumptions on...
i just think it's a lousy way to characterize a situation since none of us were in the room _ever_ and have no idea how it went down.
i'm sure it wasn't an easy decision to turn over years of work.. that being said.. maybe they were ready to move on and do something different. no one knows.
some people are pretty raw about this obviously.. but.. i mean.. move on. you could get hit by a bus next week and as you lay there dying in the street i doubt you'll think "i wish i could've spent more time on kvr trying to figure out why camel audio sold out to apple"

i guess i personally don't care. alchemy is a great instrument. it works currently and will work for a long time i think.. if it was super crucial to my music making life i'd ensure that i keep a system going just for it.. when the time comes anyways..
in the mean time there are many an awesome thing to make music with.
transition to something else.. move on.. make music.. blah blah blah.. there's lot's of tools. if someone takes one away.. find another one.

Apple's acquisition contract NDA's are brutally Draconian. I am positive that Camel had absolutely no wiggle room to provide so much as a "goodbye and thanks for all the fish" email to it's customer base after signing the deal.
Yell at Apple, not Camel.
Personally, I wish the developers of Camel well and am sure they were quite happy after Apple backed the truck filled with cash up to their door. For some developers, this was like hitting the lottery. Be happy for them, they deserve the rewards for years of great work.

As opposed to who?
All those "dope ass" musicians/actors/companies/weed farmers/whatever are the same. Come on, we need better trolling than playing the "oh noes, de sold it for da monay" stuff.

Of course they did...and do. They have MIB that come 'round to your house and bust kneecaps elbows necks and etc....Kriminal wrote:riiiiiight.... so apple forced them to sign?Weasel-Boy wrote:Apple's acquisition contract NDA's are brutally Draconian. Yeah, I mean, apple comes up wit da mad cash and says "but, you cannot disclose anything" (certainly not unheard of) and camel is like "no, our KVR customer deserve more.......they will whine and complain if I make too much or don't give them entitlement disclosure"
Get real. For the likely amount that they received (vs what little they were making) it's a fair deal.
Here's a idea, if you want it to be different, do you yourself. They have EVERY SINGLE F....ING RIGHT to do what they did. Money is getting harder to come by. Can't blame 'em one bit.
Ben & company.......enjoy it.

A game we can all play.
Apple comes round your house and say well give you cash to stop making beats for ever. How much will it take for you to comply?
