Hey all. I have two uploads to share...

First up. I've replaced & updated my previous upload of Mesa 4x12 & Orange cab Impulses. This new update has some new impulses from those cabs (as well as all the old ones too) which I think might be worth checking out.
Link is here https://www.dropbox.com/sh/lmmwj0wu4me8 ... L5NRa?dl=0

Secondly. I have another IR pack to share here too. This one is a collection of impulses which I have tweaked & EQ-ed to enhance them and remove problem frequencies, harshness etc. These impulses include some tweaked versions of other people's free impulses and also my own ones too. All of which I've processed to make them sound better (to my ears). The collection contains about 25 impulses with a wide variety of very different tones.

Check out these two collections and try them out yourself to see if they suit your tastes. :)

Not sure if these are new but they are on sale for 9.99 and they are well worth grabbing

Hi! Did some true stereo and stereo impulses of a recently acquired Sansui RA-500 Reverberation Amplifier. The actual unit itself is only mono, but accepts stereo inputs to be summed to mono and returns a blended wet dry stereo output, so I thought it worth wringing out any imperfections that could come from any of the takes.

The numbers next to each take name indicate the duration of the sweep that was used to create the IR. There's also a hard and soft impact pair which was the response of physically exciting the springs (no units harmed in the making).

I recently acquired waves IR-L so I tried to create presets for both that and space designer, as well as including WAV and SDIR versions of the samples.

EDIT1: as I take get more impulses I will try to compile them to a single location where they can be updated and be more suitable to the likes of the other posts on this thread. In the meantime I hope to at least offer this

EDIT2: I've added some more impulses + according presets for some resonant pings being played through the unit for more alternate / creative uses

EDIT3: I've edited the link to include a bunch more impulses I've done over time concisely in a drive hierarchy -- I will update this as I go

I have just updated both uploads today. The names of some of the impulses have fixed/corrected. And I have added some new impulses to both collections too. Also included is a text file containing info and a changelog to let you know what has been updated & what new IRs have added etc.

If you've downloaded before, replace the old downoad with this new update.

I've been looking for some good club PA speaker system impulses, and I came across these as well, they're pretty good!

I wonder, though, if you have come across any club speaker impulses in your IR investigations? I'd like to be able to shape the sound with some speaker/cabinet IRs before being reflected around the room. They seem to be quite difficult to find, from which I assume there either isn't demand (so nobody does the appropriate work to make them) or nobody thinks it's a good idea?

Creating an environment which allows me to specify both the club speaker and the space which the speaker is in separately, would be ideal for me in my current project. I've got plenty of club spaces, just no PA club speakers.

These were the only ones I came across.

Do you want to use them for testing or for shaping? I'd recommend not to use them as FX, but for pre-listening/testing.

Well, I'm using them creatively AND YOU CAN'T STOP ME! ;)

Like I said, I want to create a bespoke club environment where I can decide the speaker cabs and club IR. I've got tonnes of guitar and bass amp speakers and cabs, and a few Amp Cabs in Logic's Space Designer, but they sound more like guitar and bass amps. Nothing specifically just club speakers.

I've got a few friends who run large speaker rigs so I might try to get some of those, and few other hired rigs, in an anechoic room to capture.

Capturing them yourself is a science and task for its own :/

But anyway - I'd be really interested to know what happens when you play club-speaker-modeled sound with club speakers. Probably Sounds like a cinematic bassrumble :/

But do so - and maybe search for speaker IRs, esp. for club speaker models...

Studio Nord EMT gold foil (8 files)
Studio Nord EMT plate (3 files)
AKG spring (24 files)

Could not get the Gold Foil and Spring IRs to work in Convology XT, only the regular Plate (that one sounds fantastic though). Was anyone able to load them?

They worked all fine the last time I tried them with MConvolutionMB.

Post

Can you maybe try again? I used MConvolutionEZ, IRDust and Convology. Neither of them could work with the Nord Gold Foil and Spring IRs (Plate IRs works as intended). I redownloaded them, but it did not help.

Importing the IR wavs into Cubase gave me an error message, so Cubase cannot recognise them either.

Windows displays them as regular .wav files, can you see whether they have any unusual properties as far as sample rate, bit rate etc goes?

Yeah get the same thing. Only the plates work in FogConvolver.

I opened one plate and one spring in Audition. Both opened but their file properties are very different.

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Post

That's strange. libsndfile seems to be a container for various audio formats (.wav, .aif etc).

While the Spring IR file ends with .wav the Source Format info suggests its actually an .aif file.

Does Fog Convolver read standard .aif files? Could you try to rename the file ending from .wav to .aif and see whether it works?

Post

FogConvolver doesnt read these files. W10 lists them already as .wav and not .aif. Nothing to change.

The only solution I can see is import each into Audition, convert and export all as new wav files. Probably won't spend the time doing that unless I can do a batch process quickly.

What I mean by that: in Windows Explorer you can right-click and choose rename. If you change the file ending from .wav to .aif, they will become .aif files. Now that you transformed the format, will Fog Convolver recognise the .aif IR (if Fog Convolver reads .aif at all)?
