(Actually, that thing probably is digital.)

No, I also made analog comparisons....Ingonator wrote:Personally i don't really get that whole discussion. I got both Diva and Synthix and both are great sounding synths. Besides that they are significantly different. Sometimes I'm a fan of 1:1 comparisons but so far i did not have the idea to do a 1:1 comparison of Diva and Synthix.
BTW this thread seemed to have "derailed" from a "Diva vs real analog" (which was an interesting idea IMO) to a "Diva vs anything" comparison.
Is my own example from the beginning the only comparison with a real analog so far? after checking this thread again it looks that way. It would have been nice to see someone post a 1:1 comparison with e.g. a Minimmog, a Jupiter 8, Jupiter 6, Juno 60 or a MS-20 or would that be a kind of "spamming"?

It is FM but it is classified as digital....thecontrolcentre wrote:I thought DX's were FM ...trimph1 wrote:Yamaha DX7 people...remember those?thecontrolcentre wrote:trimph1 wrote:Virtual Digital![]()
http://www.vintagesynth.com/yamaha/dx7.phpOne of the most popular digital synths ever was the DX7 from Yamaha, released in 1983. It featured a whole new type of synthesis called FM (Frequency Modulation). It certainly is not analog and it is difficult to program but can result in some excellent sounds! It is difficult because it is non-analog and thus, a whole new set of parameters are available for tweaking, many of which seemed counter-intuitive and unfamiliar. And programming had to be accomplished via membrane buttons, one data slider and a small LCD screen.
They're PM, actually. (Phase modulation. Of course, modulating phase causes a frequency modulation as well.) But certainly digital. And I think the first all-digital design (aside from some little toy Casios, VL-Tone doesn't count!thecontrolcentre wrote:I thought DX's were FM ...trimph1 wrote:Yamaha DX7 people...remember those?thecontrolcentre wrote:trimph1 wrote:Virtual Digital![]()
To make things clear :pdxindy wrote:It is not just that he is constantly marketing, but also is often making negative comments about Diva. He was remarkably rude in the Gearslutz Diva thread too. Most of the time though it is the passive aggressive stuff.Bronto Scorpio wrote:Edit: No need to get rude here.
But Lotuzia: Please stop this kind of passive aggressive marketing. It will get you nowhere. It seriously annoys many people here. And that's not a good way to sell products. People will recognize good products by themselves.

Well, you only doubted a couple of times that we actually did anything special - you try to diminish our work as the same kind of thing as typing down code from a paper. You even sent Howard an abusive email about how lame PSpice emulations are, and how you could have done it yourself and yada yada (why then isn't there any synth that does this?). I've tried to keep things civil by explaning things to you in private emails. To which you react with threats of "war". Your fighting that war alone, somehow unpleasantly in our threads.Lotuzia wrote:I never made a single comment about Diva itself, its quality, or less quality, or sound, etc etc either here (KVR) or in GS.
The down side of your hatred campaign is that people will see you toohakey wrote:Well, plenty of people have cottoned on now and now the more he does it the funnier it gets, imo.pdxindy wrote:It is not just that he is constantly marketing, but also is often making negative comments
A negative PR campaign requires a certain degree of flair, subtlety and, most importantly, the ability to understand how one's actions may be viewed by others - when attempted by someone without the necessary aptitude, the result will likely be the exact opposite of that intended.
