no prob with that one here - changing waveforms works ok.Tupapupa wrote:Next bug:

with init sounds even not and with presets strange things happen...

perhaps depending on wich preset used
also the different usb-midi faults, some have, some not...
v1.12 (beta or not) seems to have more problems than the version before
but if it works for you it is ok
i will also not switch back because those few bugs do not affect me

OS 1.12 is a problem for sure and a new (closed, not public) beta is currently tested.

Just load OS 1.11 into the Pulse 2. Then do a filtr tuning (auto-tune) from the utility menu.chrisazz wrote:OSC 1 doesnt change waveforms! How can I downgrade to v1.11?

Yeah- despite the v1.12 hiccup Pulse 2 is definitely a step above the $499 price point monosynths. I liked my BS II the short while I owned it but the Pulse 2 has a more refined sound that can still deliver sonic mayhem with its own built in distortion and modulation patches as well. To me there is a more rounded bottom end with the Pulse 2- probably the filter mostly. Both are great synths but Waldorf really hit the ball square on the nose with this one.

I own both and both have their own qualities. If I would have to choose I would keep the BS II without hesitation though. Why you say? Well.....it's just A LOT more fun to use compared to the Pulse 2. The Pulse 2 does sound excellent though.rockreid wrote:Yeah- despite the v1.12 hiccup Pulse 2 is definitely a step above the $499 price point monosynths. I personally feel the overdrive isn't as good as it could have been. It seems to instantly remove low-end harmonics. The overdrive knob on the BS II does the opposite....it throws in a bucketload of low-end which makes this circruitry more usable for me. Hopefully OS updates can improve this on the Pulse 2.
On the higher octaves the Pulse 2 rules over the BS II quite easily. The oscillators sound better and the overal functionality of the synth just suites non bass sounds a lot better than the BS II (then again....it is called a bass station
Again....I think both are excellent synths with strong and weak points. They happily live side by side and both have their purpose.

Yeah, it's total fun rematching parameter values between osc 1/2 or env 1/2 or LFO speed/delay because BSII doesn't have endless encoders. NOT!acidfever wrote:Well.....it's just A LOT more fun to use compared to the Pulse 2.
Completely disagree on that account.

+1 for BS2 = more fun
2 reasons
1. the overdrive as stated above just works better, is more musical and controllable but can still get dirty freaky nasty if you want. Waldorf need to improve the OD on the Pulse, and you can see they have already been tweaking it a bit in the updates, so there is hope. But levels are currently all over the place and it takes quite a bit of experimentation to balance OSC level v overdrive amount and optimal OSC shapes and filter/res to start sounding sweet - BS2 has overdrive for the 'dumb' and that's better cos I'm not a scientist.
2. The Arp/sequencer on the BS2 is immediately rewarding, easy to use and pretty sophisticated for such a simple design. By contrast, the Pulse 2 arp is tweakable sure, and more sophisticated, but requires more effort to setup and is not fully realised - for example, a feature of all Waldorf Arps historically is the chord mode - this is currently missing from Pulse 2 - strange to build a synth with paraphonic/poly capability then omit chords from the arp....

Last week i went to a synth store. After some minutes with the Bass Station 2 the knobs startet to hurt my fingertips. This is definitly no fun for me.acidfever wrote: I own both and both have their own qualities. If I would have to choose I would keep the BS II without hesitation though.
Too bad the store had no Pulse 2 yet but from pictures the encoders look better although not ergonomically perfect.

I can agree with this dry cynical postEvilDragon wrote:Yeah, it's total fun rematching parameter values between osc 1/2 or env 1/2 or LFO speed/delay because BSII doesn't have endless encoders. NOT!acidfever wrote:Well.....it's just A LOT more fun to use compared to the Pulse 2.

Matching parameters in this way on the BS is f**ked. Banking oscillators and envelopes is a pain. The overdrive is great though, permanently on 11 here.
Very stiff pots on the BS too, we'll see what time will do. I'm not so fond of the knobs on the pulse though, not really enough grip.

Easily better than wanting to adjust the cutoff forgetting you clicked the OSC row a while back. And then wanting to put some LFO on the cutoff and needing to dive into a menu and then going to the LFO row to actually engage the LFO effect.EvilDragon wrote:Yeah, it's total fun rematching parameter values between osc 1/2 or env 1/2 or LFO speed/delay because BSII doesn't have endless encoders. Doing a filtersweep while adjusting the envelope parameters is.....physically impossible.
It's just way more passive. Doesn't mean it's bad, not at all.....just less fun (in my opinion). Sure, the BS II isn't perfect in this area as well but it's more friendly to edit in my opinion and for bass sounds it does sound very good.
But in the end it's just an opinion.
