You can of course call up P2's GUI from within Prisma and choose patches that way but it does get tiresome after awhile.![]()
3 or 4 instances of Predator 2 layered together sound pretty awesome especially with Prisma's added FX etc......
Rob Papen Predator 2 will coming on 25 November :)

Has the sound improved so much? P1 didn't sound that good in my view, I only bought it in order to get the cheap upgrade, hoping P2 would be much better in terms of sound quality.exmatproton wrote:Sure. I am not (really) complaining either. Using FL Studio, so the big ui is fitting perfectly @ 1080p @ 100%Teksonik wrote:Oh I agree, incremental sizing would be wonderful but it is what it is now.![]()
I can use the Big Screen for patch programming in one DAW on my studio computer so it works for me here but I do sympathize with those who find it too big or too small.
But still, improvements can be made.
That being said, this synth is awesome. The sound...........i love it.
But given the GUI I might try to sell P1 anyway because from people's descriptions and the pixel size P2 will be useless to me. Dunno if Predator is NFR, though, as I bought it used.

It sounds a lot better to me - the dry sound is "fuller"/more analog sounding, especially when using the edge mode filter distortion.
Then there's all that new user waveform/additive goodness and the movement-recordable xy pad found in the other RP stuff and this is looking a lot more useful than I was expecting.
As ever, for me it's the JoMal presets that really show this off.

Just tried the same preset in Predator and Pred2 if I hear difference,
but I didn't hear any difference.
The preset was: classic synth 01/synth: unisono synco
It's a bit hard to compare same presets, because they can be found at different places in the two manager screen...

Did you play with the different parameters, like cutoff, res and env's? Because to me, the filters do sound richer, in some sense.dune_rave wrote:Just tried the same preset in Predator and Pred2 if I hear difference,

I must admit that i love the original pred as well, but the extra's in pred2 give me more sonic workroom and i guess that is what makes the sound more complete as well.

Bought the upgrade.Installed no problem on my windows 7 using Cubase8.
I'm a preset guy so the vast number of presets is number one for me along with instant loading and reasonable cpu hit.
I'll probably play with the arp and see what's up with that too.
Sound wise, I compared a bunch of presets with Pedator1 presets and to my ears, some predator2 presets sound are a bit tighter, some slightly thicker and some exactly the same. The presets that are imo improved, the improvement is subtle. Some presets sound abit analogy-like smooth which I like. The x-y pad Ala FM-8 or Kore2 is very cool.Like getting even more presets.
Predator2 is still dark and still ugly imo which is disappointing but I'm over it for $50.

Are we limited to quick linking 1 modulation destination at a time using the right-click menu? For instance: I right-click a parameter and choose 'Modulate by' - LFO1. Good; that appears in the ENV/LFO/PB tab. Repeat again with another parameter. I expect to have both controls now assigned to LFO1. However, the most recent selection overwrites the first (in the ENV tab). Neither appear in MOD section, just the last selected destination appears in the ENV tab.
Is this intended? It's not really intuitive. What I expect to happen is that both parameters are now assigned to the modulator, the first assignment in the ENV tab, any further ones in the MOD section.
I can use the MOD tab, but I thought the right-click menu would be a quicker way to assign multiple destinations to one modulator whist neither the MOD or ENV/LFO/PB tabs are in view. Which is another thing: could you not make the ENV tab open if I assign modulation to an envelope? Would speed things up a bit.
Thanks.

I jumped in and updated version 1 to 2 after the support kindly solved my problem with the coupon.
For the size, I believe it needs a middle resolution between the small and big. I thought the FHD (1920x1080) is the most standard on desktops while (1366x768) is the most common still with PC Laptops! I don't know what and how the graphic designers plan the measurements of their design!
The GUI is ok. It's functional but not beautiful as I imagined. The black background seems like washed colour
Anyway, comparing the colours and design with version 1, of course version 1 is much better. The colours and shadows in v1 are nicer. There was also details in the drawing more than v2. V2 seems like a rushed product, but I hope after some time, they update the GUI with better graphics/fonts and colours. It also seems very busy in advanced mode!
The sound, I love it. I'm glad that it kept mostly the character of version 1 but added essential sound design tools. Now, it can do wonderful ambient pads and complex sounds, not that in version 1 we can't, but with XY control/programming, it is a very welcome addition
The presets are great! I think they are from the best (if not the best) presets I have ever heard. After all, I am very happy that I did upgraded. Fantastic synth and one of my absolute favourites
