Wait, people are complaining about now having the option for a subscription? That's ridiculous. That wasn't the main issue. It was the promise that wasn't kept about lower prices.
...and the electron responded, "what wall?"

The whole DOAL was just a joke to most of us that have a lot of their plugins already.

The level of expectations he created with the deal of a lifetime and then the shit candy he delivered I believe is what made it backfire. I could care less about the subscription. It's good for anyone new to plugin annoyance. For me personally, having 70+ plugins (not anymore though, sold 20+ within two weeks) this was not only dissapointing but actually a joke of a pretty bad taste. Nonetheless, moving forward, I'm pretty sure their well documented greed will give us $29 plugins again, and then those who paid whatever they paid, will get pissed. It seems like a game of passing around the shit sandwich overtime among their audience and then throwing bones after a while... let's see those bones in the future (I bet we will see more 10 year old UAD plugins...)Mathematics wrote: Wed Jul 17, 2019 2:16 am The whole DOAL was just a joke to most of us that have a lot of their plugins already.

No, but this IS the thread for us to complain about scoundrels like you XDphaded wrote: Wed Jul 17, 2019 2:56 am Is this a good thread to celebrate paying $29 for $2300 worth of plugs by subscribing to PickPack less than 24 hours before they cancelled PickPack?

i agree... it wasn't the subscription... who cares about that? what disappointed me was all the shit he said beforehand about pricing and blowing up everyone's hopes THEN actually raising intro pricing and lowering HH discounts compared to the past trying to coerce people into buying into the subscription. like the focusrite console for example... i think the best price i saw was $229 alone which is MORE than the subscription yearly price when not long ago if you owned the other consoles you could get the new release for $99 i think it was. another example... 'buy all 6' new plugs for $65 each (best i saw was $390 total) which again is way over the sub price. that was quite insulting to most.. and THAT is what backfired imo. it also did not help the situation to give the pickpack folk freebies before the fiasco.
my father taught me that it NEVER turns out good when you think you are bigger, stronger or smarter than everyone else... the world is a BIG place and there is ALWAYS someone bigger and better than you out there.
TIP OF THE DAY: always guard against spitting on people you climb over on the way to the top... you will certainly meet them again on the way down.
cheers all

Issues:
1. Promise of business model with lower prices → false
2. Summer sales made with knowledge of imminent subscription model → unhappy customers.
3. Subscription model → several criticisms: (a) lack of ownership; (b) eliminates incentive to innovate; (c) massive overlap / redundancies in the catalog; and others
4. No loyalty path for previous heavy hitters → unhappy user base.
Issues are not distinct. Subscription model bad because false promise of lower prices, because no upgrade path for heavy hitters, because #3.
Pardon they style of post, tired, going to sleep.

This. On top of that people remember and people accumulate. Their snobbery behavior got them. I believe this "deal of a lifetime" was last straw pushing people to public riot.escalona wrote: Wed Jul 17, 2019 2:29 amThe level of expectations he created with the deal of a lifetime and then the shit candy he delivered I believe is what made it backfire.Mathematics wrote: Wed Jul 17, 2019 2:16 am The whole DOAL was just a joke to most of us that have a lot of their plugins already.
How hypocritical. Here we are we are PA and we are mega cool company having public social channel. But when we shit to the people and people respond - we shut you down.

I think the sub codes are only for the person they were issued for?
On Another note - does anyone still have the sales e-mails from June for Plugin Alliance? It's important. Please PM me if so.

This is what I am afraid of - for future updates, we will all get pushed into subscription, of course. Oh sure, they might offer incremental versions for purchase, but if it's $199 to upgrade, of course, that will make the subscription seem better, right?
I also believe what they did by having the big sale first, and then announcing subscriptions, rather than offer the choice at the same time, was highly unethical.
