Seems to happen mostly with wavetables and samples. Set it to a long release and press the same key twice - it will cut the previous release. Try Pad > The Analog Garden, for example. Maybe there's a setting I'm missing somewhere.
Btw i noticed this too, with samples (but just thought out that did not switch something somewhere).
Though, really, it should multiplied accordingly with voices amount setting, by idea.

I might give this a longer go.

FarleyCZ wrote: Wed Jan 01, 2020 9:36 pmI think Falcon is awesome if you have serious crazy layered idea that you'd love to have made as one patch.
I'd rather use multiple, layered instances than do battle with a single multi-layered patch structure, especially if it's anything like DUNE's multi-layer set-up.
Dune's kind of a offshoot. I don't think they intended to be used as a layered instrument. They call it a "Differential Unisono Engine" and essentially it just allow you to do slight edits on per-voice basis. I wouldn't call that layering tbh. I love Dune. Cool filter, amazing unisono. Usually it's my go to for synth-strings.

But Falcon is a different ballgame. There's a "IDE-style" tree editor where you can approach each layer and keygroup separately. The content of the screen filters out accordingly. I could imagine improvements, but I don't mind that. Especially for big epic atmospheres, or big layered stabs of stuff, It's awesome. It's a personal thing, but I quite like the idea of making patches like that, kinda building your own omnisphere in the process, that you will be eventually able to comfortably browse when searching for sounds to compose with.

Layering is exactly what it is in DUNE, you can change every single parameter between any of 8 layers. The only things they share are the two FX busses and the ARP. Everything else can be set per layer. The fact that you didn't realise this is exactly what I'm talking about - really poor implementation/workflow.

Hmm, really, i check now again from scratch - polyphony just does not works for single note. Or by other words - voices just can't layer at the same frequency.
This is no matter what osc type - VA or samples.
But is that how it should be? I really doubt.
In all synths polyphony works otherwise.
Bug maybe ?

It's definitely not should be, because it's turn out that unable doing some simple but nice things, like polyphonic random texture with long release in the same frequency.
Damn it's some bummer. Want to believe it's really bug.

yes - confirmed (weird retrigger)
+1

here's another thread on their forum
https://forum.arturia.com/index.php?topic=98566.0

it's like voice stealing when playing the same note
no voice round robin when playing the same note
like all (most) of poly synths are doing

example:
load template>default
set keyboard to 32 poly
set ENV VCA to
attack = 500
sustain = 1 (full)
rel: = 14s

hit the same note over and over and notice how it gets cut off like voice stealing
hit another note and notice how that other note releases perfectly

a regular polysynth would assign a different voice for each note played
letting it fade out according the release setting
(aka round robbin)
not so here...

ok had another honest go with Pigments, and found it just doesn't compare to stuff like hive2 for a modern synth. Hive2 sounds way better and it just does it quicker from a init preset.

That said I'm going to probably uninstall it, seeing how I don't need it.

Each to their own :borg:

Damn.....why these guys can't do all properly. It was just a step to joy and happiness!
And it was necessary to spoil everything.
In the beginning - absurdly approach in Synthi, where for pins matrix start working you should press note first.
Now this.
I just have no words.

Seriously? I am the exact opposite. I think Pigments sounds every bit as good as Hive, if not better, and is about a million times easier to work with. As I said earlier, I am very tempted to uninstall Hive 2 and go back to v1.2, when it was easier to work with. Since the update I hardly touch it any more. They filled it full of krap I don't need, which just gets in the way of doing things.

I also experienced the weird voice stealing and i thought i gone mad. This is indeed a bummer and has to be changed. Otherwise maybe the most interesting synth from last year.

Or for example, main situation in dub techno: you take chord in form of soft deep texture (with increased attack and long release), and after short time press the same chord again. So, how it will looks in current case, I don’t even want to imagines.
Roughly to say, with such pseudo poly, all what has a long release become near to unusable.
