I think I will upgrade when there is a discount. Nothing urgent now. I can wait
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Yeah I am not happy with the tiny fonts and that top, white menu bar. I hope those get addressed in subsequent patches. That and the black outline around icon symbols. It used to be lighter which was easier to see on a dark profile.
The whole Inspector feels squished. Everything is vertically skinnier. And I prefer the Insert slots to be visible even when empty instead of the new way of only showing what you using.. you get 1 and fill that to get another.
The software feels solid though to use.
And I do like that they increased the + and - button size on the bottom, right corner. Those were always so tedious to interact with. Oh and it minimizes properly now.
I will be interested in seeing how they go with the UI changes over the course of this version. I think they will smooth out some of it over time. There's already conversation about these issues on the official steiny forum going.

Sigh Milkman. You'd be better off is your name was "Manmilk" . It'd be a tad more honest than you countering with a less cocky version of "Reorient yourself and do a self-check.". A little arrogant to command a person to re-orient themselves. That's straight up personal. Some people like Cubase. I myself, it's always been a struggle with Cubase's quirks but I did produce two great albums using it. And no, I wan't provide list of said albums. I owe you zero, nada.Milkman wrote: Fri Nov 03, 2023 2:36 amSpeaking of wasting brain power, do you know where you are? If you make me come back and explain what I mean, it wont be nearly as polite as this comment.koolkeys wrote: Fri Nov 03, 2023 12:19 amSo why even use your brain power to worry about this? Go use Bitwig. What purpose is there for you to even check a thread about a product you loathe from a company you loathe when you are experiencing such magical bliss from another program?Milkman wrote: Thu Nov 02, 2023 6:36 pm Ah yes, another extremely minimal update disguised as a major update from the company that motivated CLAP to come into existence because of their decades-long inability to properly support multithreaded multimedia or properly QA hardware platforms for their fully hardware-dependent software. Yes, let me think about spending more $$ on a company whose customer service is among the *worst* in the entire industry, and who handle legitimate customer frustration by trying to hide it.
No, the bliss I have been experiencing using Bitwig for the past 6 months has washed away decades of frustration with this brand, and this brand can kiss my entire $#%@$%#@%#@%.
Trolling? Determined to poop in the cereal of those who DO like the update and Cubase? Your mission in life to pull others away from a program so you feel justified in your hatred? Are you just bored?
Never mind. Don’t answer that. It really is irrelevant.
I guess the positive part is that you weren’t here trying to make it about REAPER like others do. So you got that going for ya…….
" or properly QA hardware platforms for their fully hardware-dependent software." -- in my experience the first album I produced was using an ancient maudio m-66 which was a pci card and scsi connector that led to a breakout box. Followed by an RME Fireface audio interface. Followed by a u-audio apollo. I won't contradict if you had hardware troubles with certain interfaces, but the software for me has behaved through 20+ years of audio interfaces.
Awesome threat - and pathetic: "If you make me come back and explain what I mean, it wont be nearly as polite as this comment.". Go be an absolute bastard if it suits you.

splice is clickable https://splice.com/daws/39137111-cubase ... -steinberg with the usually 3days trial period
mac touchpad still needs "PinchBar is a free macOS tool that adds continuous pinch-to-zoom to various apps and is custom-made for Cubase with features often requested on the official forum."
https://github.com/pnoqable/PinchBar
which is bit sad
ps. Just to mention, in case someone needs it, a usable, modular environment similar to an FLS Patcher, the MuLab Plugin is still the most usable, at least until the Reason Plugin version is capable of hosting VSTi and similar plugins.
but still needs Rossata mode

Thanks but I know this. But where is Ableton Link from Cubase.Trensharo wrote: Fri Nov 03, 2023 12:40 amAbleton Link and ReWire are two completely different things.audiouser720 wrote: Thu Nov 02, 2023 3:41 pm Can somebody answer this please:
Ableton Link has been kinda industry standard since rewire got flushed down in the toilet. Pro Tools has it. Logic has it. NI Machine has it. EVEN STEINBERG’S OWN CUBASIS APP HAS IT.
Is it even remotely possible that Steinberg would not add this to their flagship product? Please calm me down and tell me I am just missing it.
Ableton Link is predominantly for multi-device synchronization.
ReWire did this between Master & Slave (Host & Device?), but it also facilitated the piping of Audio and MIDI Data between the two software applications, by exposing the Audio and MIDI Channels of the Slave/Device to look like a hardware device. Ableton Link does not do any of that. Its only concern is synchronization.
There is nothing else on the market that really does what ReWire does.
TL;DR: Ableton Link will allow your DAW and Scoring App to stay in sync (timing, transport, etc.), but it will not allow the Scoring App to pipe MIDI Data to the DAW to trigger virtual instruments hosted in that DAW.
90% of DAWs that had "ReWire Support" omitted ReWire MIDI. 75% of those that supported ReWire at all only allowed you to pipe the Stereo Master from the Device to the Host.
Unless you stayed within a pretty exclusive corridor of choices, you couldn't really get a proper ReWire workflow. That's why the lost of ReWire was such a PITA to so many people. They had already gone the extra mile to limit themselves to specific Host/Device applications to establish that workflow, and there was (and is) nothing on the market that really steps in to fill the voice left by the sunsetting of ReWire. You basically have to just reinvent how you do your work and move on (or stay on older versions of software to maintain it - hoping operating systems do not obsolete it (move to, or stay on Windows, basically)).

Can someone tell me? Do I still need a dongle for certain included sounds, such as the "Verve" piano?

Indeed, sorry. It was not verve piano, it was a free Lo-Fi piano from Steinberg asking for a dongle. Thanks.kritikon wrote: Fri Nov 03, 2023 9:28 am I've never needed the dongle for any of C12's content, so I'd be surprised if they changed that for C13.

I like the update overall, the mixer was already excellent but is now even more configurable. A bit disappointed that the DAW control/remote stuff hasn't been fully deprecated/transitioned yet.

I did not know that. I have checked my account, and indeed, I have vouchers for all my additional content to register with the new license manager. Thanks a lot.T-CM11 wrote: Fri Nov 03, 2023 9:50 amSteinberg has released updates for all those Halion (Sonic) expansions - including lo-fi piano.Serhii Kot wrote: Fri Nov 03, 2023 9:37 am Indeed, sorry. Wow, basically every change to the GUI is for the worse - elements are harder to distinguish, texts are harder to read.
The inspector is way worse now, too. E.g. only send/insert slots which are used are shown. Sounds good in theory, in practice it makes thinks way more fiddly. The channel fader is now tiny as f..k, but to compensate, they added this completely useless second left sidebar with the huge channel fader, which doesn't offer anything new compared to the original inspector, but can do way less.
Why not leave alone what was perfectly fine and instead overhaul this damn dated audio engine, which drops out every time I add/remove a plug-in that has latency.
And to put the icing on the cake, I'm now forced to use this annoying HUB.
I use Cubase since VST v3.x, but never has an update been a greater mess than this. (In German there's a neat word for what happened here: Verschlimmbessern)
