Yup i just tried with synth1 now and it was hard to make the drum fit in the mix so i guess i will stay with samplessoundpalace wrote:VladimirDimitrievich & D-Fusion huge thanks for the comments. I should mention 2 things..
- D-Fusion, a good tip I find is to sample bass drums from tracks you like and layer 2 (one with good bass response and one with good high and midrange response)I have given up on creating good bass drums with synths, I can't get it to work I'm afraid. I had done this on my previous EP and I think the sampled stuff sounds a lot better
- VladimirDimitrievich I know what you mean about the compressor, I did slam this down significantly and would you believe, some commercial tracks I have here are still louder ? lol I will definitely try it with a little less compression though
Cheers Guys

VSTis as good as hardware? Similar to Access Virus Quality?

Though I believe Absynth is also great as a VA (and even greater at some other types of sounds), I love Virus sounds, too. I'd buy it if they released the native version. I just want to do every with a laptop.
but here it sounds really good !
VladimirDimitrievich i think you are using a virus c ?

ok I'll reveal.D-Fusion wrote:Ok what synth is it VladimirDimitrievich?
FL has an included synth called 3xOsc ... basically, 3 oscillators, one filter, envelopes and LFOs for stuff. I set up 16 of them with wide open filters and sawtooths, sequentially detuned. This totals to 48 sawtooth oscillators (!). The layer that runs them also runs an Envelope controller, which controls a Fruity Free Filter in lowpass mode with a touch of resonance. This makes the filter monophonic but is a small price to pay because I think it sounds damn good.

I would never thought that it was FL's 3Osc
So what was the cpu usage when you where playing it?

After reading your response, my reaction went something like this....VladimirDimitrievich wrote:Vonbrucken wrote:VladimirDimitrievich i think you are using a virus c ?!!!!!

16*3=48 .... 48 oscillatorsVonbrucken wrote:![]()
damned !!!
16 that's a number !!
but great sound !
the screenshot shows 5 ... it actually jumps between 5 and 10. Considering this is 48 oscillators, thats actually pretty damn good.D-Fusion wrote:![]()

I used to use only the 3xOsc back when I didn't know what VSTi were

3xOsc is so, SO underrated.
All it needs is a little tighter sounding oscillators, some way to control and moduluate PWM and a one page GUI. I mean, the thing has a 5 point env for filter, cutoff, pitch and resonance, plus a dedicated LFO for all of them. The SVF LP filter has some real character, and the large amount of included waveforms gives it alot of timbres.
The only thing that would be really annoying with VladimirDimitri's idea is changing the synths as a group. You couldn't tweak all their envs's or change the oscillators at once.

The thread is too long and I have not read it all so I dunno if it has been suggested already, but what about the KarmaFX Synth ?
