Believe it or not, I have a pair of CANS that can crank REAL LOUD without distortion and they simple sound marvelous for tracking using AMP SIMS (they are OPEN so they stink if tracking with a MIC). I have AKG 701s, check them out for guitar work (for late at night without getting your love ones or neighbors dissing you).

I totally agree with you about "choosing the color." Making your own personal sound is extremely important. Many people seem to think that Revalver 3 is amazing and I hate it. I wouldn't call it bad, I just don't like it's qualities at all. Same thing with Guitar Rig. On paper you'd think it would end up as my favorite, but in the end I hated it. Maybe all these decisions have to do with things like my audio interface and guitar. Maybe it has more to do with the music I listen to. Hard to say.Simone Coen wrote:Thanks for putting us (almost) in the same league as part of our competition.
I respect your opinion even if I don't agree with you.
In the end, for me, it's about choosing the right color for your needs, or get more tools to have more colors in your canvas.
In case you change your mind... let me know... PM me and I'll be happy
I want to clarify that I do indeed like TH1 and I'd recommend it to others. I hope it gets IK to get off it's but and add things like more flexible routing and more CPU efficient models. If I were in the market it would be a serious contender but I'm not and it's not different enough than what I've already invested in to get me to jump in... yet.

OK... I bought it, now I hope it isn't a hassle to install (I read through the thread and saw some issues with PACE).
I do LOVE amplitube but like Simon said, just another tool in the toolbox. I just hope that they develop more STOMP BOX models and make these available as "one up", like buy one for 9.99 or something instead of putting them in a new package like IK did with AT.
You guys convinced me that this is a good product as I don't always like to only go by the demos. I can't play guitar that good anyway.
I will let you know how this goes and what I think after I install.

Until 2.0 no paid-for upgrades.
We'll be adding *some* things along the way though 1.x versions.
Of course I can't tell more, but we're working here as if TH1 wasn't released yet.

So, does one need anything special to install? I won't be going with an ILOK... I only use this stuff in my personal studio.

the install is very smooth. authorization is automated, which is great. really nice product and very user friendly. the microphone models and positioning really give an advantage in sound over amplitube, which i thought was very one dimensional and limited in this respect. the experience with reverbs, ambience and space while developing breverb is very apparent here.jkleban wrote:So, does one need anything special to install? nothing special, just install the version(s) of TH1 you might need (make sure you install Interlok drivers which are needed anyway).jkleban wrote:So, does one need anything special to install? I won't be going with an ILOK... I only use this stuff in my personal studio.

To authorize (either iLok or license file) read the install manual here:

You know, it must be me. I authorized the standalone version and started it up. It worked. I installed the VST version and tried to load it into SONAR and it says it is unauthorized and runs the authorization. I have it read the authorization file sent to me that I used to reg the standalone and the program tells me the file does not contain valid license data?
This irks me to no end. Please help.

though there are many things that can be called "matter of taste" i don't think these two statemants belong to them.zerocrossing wrote:...my guess is similar patches use about 20% less CPU.....I feel it lacks the complexity and life that the Amplitube 2 models have....
th-1 doesn's just use 20% LESS cpu for compareable patches it uses nearly only 20% OF Amplitubes cpu usage.(e.g. at 40% cpu, th-1 8% cpu)
the lack of life and complexity would mean a dead n steril sound and if you feed both amps with the same, non mudulated tone you'll clearly hear that they both sound alive (to my ears th-1 sounds much more alive expecially when it comes to a feedback in sound (still wondering how they managed that))

I sent you an email. It must be you did something wrong when following the onscreen instructions and/or manual.jkleban wrote:You know, it must be me. Which format have you installed?vinayk wrote:ok very stupid question - where does th1 install to on osx - I need to uninstall the program (can't afford it - and its making me feel bad having it there tempting me!)
Other than uninstalling the PACE driver (documented above):
AU:
Locate Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/TH1.component
delete it.
VST:
Locate Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/TH1.vst
delete it.
RTAS:
Locate Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Plug-Ins/TH1.dpm
delete it.
Standalone:
Locate Applications/TH1.app
delete it.
Common files (all formats):
Locate Library/Application Support/Overloud/TH1 folder
delete it.
Best,
