Again, thanks for the reply standalone.

After trying to solve this over several hours, I have finally managed to achieve recognition of my external disk "Steam directory" on both my PC and my laptop. 8)

The reference to the "shortcut" for moving the directory was the route to the solution (thanks for the reference standalone), however, the "shortcut" reference as it's written up only seems to apply to moving the directory after install.
I can't find any mention of using the same "Steam Directory" on external hard disc for 2 different computers (i.e. PC desktop and Laptop, not in use at same time, I hasten to add).

Anyhow, the solution is to create a shortcut in both systems leading to the same "Steam directory" on the external disc.

In Windows XP go to:

C:\Documents & Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spectrasonics

and create the shortcut in that folder pointing to the "Steam Directory on your external disc.

The process was similar on Vista (my laptop OS) I believe (I don't have my laptop on at present to check)

I hope this info helps some other people out there.

Maybe I am just a dumbass and it was obvious all along...

Way to go!.

dunc, I had to do a reinstall of my C: drive after a HD crash - with my STEAM directory on a different drive. I think that's a similar scenario to you. I just reinstalled DVD 1, to install the dll and set up the registry for the STEAM path. OK, you have to wait for the whole DVD 1 to install, but you don't need the rest.

Then I reinstalled the patches/updates over the top of this and it was fine.

EDIT: Sorry - I see you've already solved it ;-)

Running Trilian inside of Omnisphere is a match made in heaven-here is an example what it sounds like when one combines some of the fretless basses with some Lyle Maystype synthsounds inside Omnisphere.

Really cool tune Chuck and some lovely guitarplaying inthere.
The only thing that distracts a bit from the overall enjoyable listening experience is some harsh distortion of high frequencies (coming in with the first few chords at the very beginning) and some nasty pumping of the master compressor later in the song but i am sue that can all be very easily fixed.

keep em comin

best
Hans
