I resolved this issue by resetting the VST blacklist in Studio One. Spire is now working normally for me in Studio One 64 bit.billcarroll wrote:Spire 0.9.5 works well in Cubase 7 64 bit, but I can't seem to get it to show up in Studio One 2.5.2 64 bit on OSXvega555 wrote:Hi,

Yes even modular synths often included some effects modules. I see them as an integral part of a synth. If it doesn't sound that good without them, oh well. It's the end result that counts for me. Although I do appreciate why some want a very robust raw sound. Different styles of music.chk071 wrote:Yeah, but effects are like the salt in the soup.Crackbaby wrote:But today a synth shouldn't need a ton of effects and unison to sound goodI know you didn't say it, but every time i hear "A good synth doesn't need effects to sound good" i'm wondering if people want to sound like the early 80ies... but hey, if that's what they are after they should just go ahead.
Pretty essential for most sounds to have some effects on it though.
What I do think is synth designers need to think of effects as sound modules and let us place them at different parts of the signal path. Massive allows you to do this to some degree with the insets, but does not let us use reverb and the larger delay which is a real shame. Reverb before a filter for example, or delays before a filter can really change the whole game.
Effects need to be though of not as icing on the cake but as sound design tools.

More than 10 years. More like 15 years, maybe more. I was using Rebirth when it was out and that was quite a long time ago.Crackbaby wrote:Ten years ago (or was it more?) when the first VA's came out, dalor wrote:+1. This works for every synth. Want to know how good a synth is? Turn off all effects first. Sometimes I think if a sound bank uses too many effects they try to disguise how average the synth would sound otherwise.aquar wrote: I suppose that depends on what the individual user expects from a Synth.
Sylenth to me doesn't sound very good at all until you dial in loads of reverb/delay and unison. Even then it sounds cheap to me.

Ha! My i7 is a powerhouse of a laptop. I'd rather keep a little more overhead available though...rusetsky wrote:upgrade you systemEchoes in the Attic wrote:Demo'd. Insane cpu usage. Pass.i7-3770 8 key chord, 8 spire with 4 osc and 9 voice detune

How come it's released before it's a v1.0 product?
It sounds good and is very capable, but it's very cpu hungry, and quite limited in features compared to other synths.
Will it get a nice programable arp/seq with midi out support?
