I kind of wonder about this as well. One of the best measures of what's currently good I've ever found is what the local light-fingered teeny-freeloaders are using, as they can effectively use almost anything they want. Ten years ago it was Cubase every time. Today, since the Steinberg lock-out, I'd have said it was fifty-fifty Reaper and Ableton. I've never even seen a running Studio One. And whatever happened to Acid? That was quite good. And Cakewalk used to be a big contender.

The stupidest freeloader I know is going fifteen rounds, two submissions or a knockout trying to get a hokey install of ProTools running. That's one DAW you have to spend real money on or just not bother. And what does this tell us? More people buy and drive Fords than buy and drive BMWs. Does that make Ford better than BMW?

Seperating the words 'the best DAW' from the word 'for' is just a kind of delusion.

I'm using Logic X so I can't even sell it, when I have to change to the most popular one when the poll closes. I feel so foolish now
I haven't even been able to get Logic X to crash yet either, so there must be something wrong with it.

it wouldn't surprise me if apple already knew that 'logic' was not the most popular (and, therefore, not the best), and that informed their decision to sell through the appstore, and forbid resale. they would have foreseen a poll, such as this, resulting in 'logic' users jumping ship
