Why did you leave Studio One?

Because I don't like opera.

By the way, I have tested Windows Audio. It is not better than ASIO! It has much bigger latency. It works ok, but there is no comparison that the ASIO driver for my audio interface is better!

Really?
Mozart's Requiem in D minor is probably the best music that has ever been written.
And the Queen of the Night aria from the Magic Flute? Come on!

Yeah, they both suck. Core Audio is where it's at.EnGee wrote: Thu Mar 02, 2023 1:26 am By the way, I have tested Windows Audio. It is not better than ASIO!

[Mod edit: Nah]
Here's something I have noticed, though - when using Windows Audio with standalone synths, the synths are perfectly playable. So instead of just looking at numbers in a dialog box, have you tried actually using the application? You might find that the latency figure is less relevant than you think.
We had band practice last night, so I couldn't check it out, but I'll definitely be diving into it tonight.

Yes, I think Core Audio is the best. Less latency and very playable instruments.
I don't see the point of Windows Audio because first, not all DAWs have it (nothing in Ableton Live), second, for me, I use 128 buffer. I could go lower but I found that this is the best spot for my setup. In M1 Mac I could go lower, but I get even less latency with the same buffer.
If I want to match Windows buffer (256), it would be super smooth on my PC, but I don't need it that much because I use few tracks (8 or less excluding drums).
Anyway, if I have a laptop, I would be concerned about portability and how to use the integrated sound card (in this case I would mostly choose Air M1 laptop).

The only problem is I'm a natural baritone.

I'm listening to Studio One, using Windows Audio in Exclusive Mode, as I type this and I haven't so far had any glitches or anything else to annoy me. I'm playing some of the projects that are heaviest on CPU and I can switch between applications, launch applications, do anything I like without it having the tiniest effect on the music playing in the background. This is nothing short of a revelation!
Through the Windows Audio Control Panel - the one you access from Studio One - I've got the latency at its lowest setting, 10ms, and there is no noticeable lag when I am playing the Lightpad Block. Even drums are nice and tight.
There is one thing that annoys me, though, and that's that I should have tried this 3 or 4 years ago, when I realised that I could play the standalone version of Equator with no noticeable latency and it was using Windows Audio. I honestly can't tell you why I never thought to run my DAW with it. Actually, I know exactly why - I'm a f**king idiot. Thanks heaps, Trensharo, for the advice.

I'd say that's a good reason not to use Live because every cheap-arse app on Earth can use Windows Audio.EnGee wrote: Thu Mar 02, 2023 5:47 amI don't see the point of Windows Audio because first, not all DAWs have it (nothing in Ableton Live)
Again, have you tried Windows Audio or are you just reading the number and making assumptions? I turned the latency down to its lowest setting and it feels every bit as responsive as my ASIO driver with a 16 sample buffer. (Yes, I can run my EVO 8 with a 16 sample buffer and it works fine on most of my projects.)for me, I use 128 buffer. I could go lower but I found that this is the best spot for my setup. In M1 Mac I could go lower, but I get even less latency with the same buffer.
I'm sorry but that just comes down to you being too stupid to use a PC. That, in turn, calls into question your statement about Live. Windows Audio is exactly like Core Audio in macPOS (do you like that? I saw someone using it the other day and I love it!) - it's the way Windows does audio. It would be exactly the same on the integrated audio as with your I/O device.Anyway, if I have a laptop, I would be concerned about portability and how to use the integrated sound card (in this case I would mostly choose Air M1 laptop).

there was this thing about going out of sync with sends, sidechain and/or busy Projekts.
my experience too, with more than 50 tracks.
so i got back to cubase.
same setup in project, but no timing issues in cubase.

What, 50 tracks? I agree heartily. If you can't make amazingly good music with 10 or 12, you're not very good at this job. Honestly, I cannot get my head around the fact that anyone thinks they need 50 tracks to make a song. What the f**k are you doing with all those tracks?
