It was just an example. There's no need to be so legal about it. Use your imagination. Are you a creative person or an office boy with no imagination?
Anyone who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.

When you die you'll give anything to hear one of those "bad" tunes...

I won't. I'm going somewhere better. ;)

This thread is an example of pure stupidity: the OP asks something which he doesn’t understand (even the definition of the *modern music” is obviously unclear to him), so OP doesn’t know what he is asking, and the commentators don’t understand/know what they are replying to.
But still - that all doesn’t prevent the thread to continue 35+ pages.

Dog forbid someone should actually try to explain their position in any kind of detail.

Mostly just commentary on those two having a pointless argument. Nothing more to read in to it than that.

I don't think modern music is awful, in fact, I think there has never been a time with as much variety as we have now. Modern music is amazing, but there is a lot more slop out there than actually good stuff, that's just how the internet works considering anyone can post anything.

about 180.000 uploads of "modern" music every day, so you can't expect even 1% to be very good, that would be a lot.
Pro Tools is to blame first and foremost.

And Pro Tools was initially Mac-based. It's all Steve Jobs' fault.

Or Ricky Martin, I'm not sure.

Music didn’t go downhill on its own. It was personally escorted there by the drummer from Nirvana and his oversized fake teeth. Once he picked up a guitar, it was all over.

The thread is done, shut her down. This is everything right here.

From Google:

„Key Reasons Cited for the Decline in Quality:
Technological Homogenization: Popular music is often produced using the same computer software (DAWs), drum machines, and synth sounds, leading to a loss of original and varied timbre.
Decline in Complexity: Research indicates that popular music has become louder, with reduced variety in chords, melodies, and instrumentation compared to previous decades.
The "Industry" Effect: Labels now often prioritize viral content and social media trends (like TikTok) over developing artist talent, resulting in music that often feels less "authentic".
Production Over Songwriting: A greater emphasis is placed on audio engineering and studio magic—such as excessive autotune—over actual singing talent and musicianship.
The "Loudness Wars": Modern music is frequently compressed to sound consistently loud, which can make it feel more "fatiguing" and less nuanced to listen to.“

it doesn‘t mention the mega mergers and the hiring of suits who know SFA about music.

I googled, "why 2026 is the best year for music" and the AI thing was a load of rubbish. Big chunk about how there is a backlash against AI music, and apparently there is a resurgence in country music.

Nothing about huge amounts of artists in huge amounts of genres which are easily accessible. Yay AI.
