@Godly
regarding the CPU...
Well Avenger is more or less a gigantic sandbox, where you can *program* your sounds. I say *program* because you have many possibilities to solve tasks or problems, you can chose many different routes to get to the result you want. Of course the obvious is to raise the unison voices, chorder voices fx, amp release etc... all this costs CPU. We designed Avenger as open as possible and we allow you to make stupid descisions, regarding the preset design. Yes you can make 8 OSCS, each with unison, taking 100% CPU. Does this make sense? Maybe. is there another , less ressource demanding possibility, which sounds nearly the same? Yes.
In the video I saw some things you could optimize. Do not use the 5x Unison, turn off the Chorder. This sums up the voices quite quickly. Each alias free voice takes of course more, than in Synth1 etc. Use the "Vintage Chorus" instead. It leads to a similar result (smoothen and widen the sound) but this takes way less cpu. Furthermore on pads, it you use the AMP release, use the inner ring to bend it upwards. This means, that a voice is longer hearable, so it sounds like longer release, but the voice is faster gone in reality. The opposite example: if you turn the inner ring all the way down (neg, logarhitmic) the voice is fading away quickly, it fades so far away thay you hardly can hear it any more, BUT its still there and takes CPU. This leads to raising the release to hear it better, resulting in tons of voices, producing to hearable sound but taking CPU. Furthermore do not use multiple Reverbs at once, every Reverb takes up to 5%. Use 1 central reverb (as send fx). Furthermore I always try to use just 1 OSC for a Pad sound. Why? Because you can make so much already with 1 osc, complex modulations, frequency morphs, sub osc etc... if you do all this with seperate oscs it takes more cpu of course.
Good example what you can *program*, check out the SQ Funktown City preset. For the Chord melody I could have used 3 oscs, 3 arps etc... but solved it with just 1 osc and automation of the chorder.
You see, the CPU%% mainly depending on how you design a preset. It can be 10% or it can be 80% with nearly the same sounding preset.

So you're advising to use an fx instead of osc programming?msvs wrote:@Godly

I really appreciate it.
Good advice in the reverb indeed also.
I know some older presets consume very much cpu and can be saved with better osc adjusting. I tried this before. See my video.
Let's check your advice how I can better it.
So how can I get rid of that 3% cpu usage at startup?
(i know comparing with synth1 is not fair, but this is the reason why people use it so much, it's versatile and lightweight. I've been looking so long for a decent replacement plus extra, and hoped Avenger would be it.)

By the way, Synth1 has very little aliasing.
Another thing.
It sounds to me like the chorder voices in Avenger has a lot of aliasing, like they were not optimized the same way as the master osc.
So the chorder voices should use little cpu.
Is that right?

Hi Manuel,
I think there's no room for improvement in this preset, but still uses 5-6% idle.
Can you check it?
This is the string voice I use in the preset (as keyboard zone, not as layer)

Ok followed your advice on the send rack, indeed much more convenient to work with.
Tried twideling some release curves also.
Only the cpu stays the same. 5% idle.
I limited to 16 to take no risk.

Another thing I see is that the sample is still rolling in the background, when notes are off and sustain even 0.

But you definitely should never trust the Ruskies. Being a Rusky I confirm this. Never trust them!
