Tek, are you telling me you really don't know thisTeksonik wrote:I've got my ESQ-1 sitting right next to me. Please tell me how to play more than one patch at a time.crimsonwarlock wrote: My ESQ-1 was multi-timbral
There is a great multi-timbral trick that the ESQ-1 has, quite unique and the SQ8L even emulates this trick very faithful even while the SQ8L is technically speaking NOT a multi-timbral synth: Choose a nice string-pad sound and hold a chord in your left hand, while holding that chord choose another sound, like a lead for example and start playing with your right hand...... you might be surprised
I seem to remember that you could also set up a keyboard split with it but I have to hit the manual for that as I sold my ESQ-1 a few years ago. At least it is possible to sequence several sounds at once via midi.
CrimsonWarlock aka TechnoGremlin, Moved to Reason and Rack Extensions exclusively (from Reaper and VSTs) several years ago.

Thank you very much daichi for new version !
Teksonik ,yes you are right and about being ass too BUT i just got scared how quickly synth1 is running out of voices during unison patches maybe thats why i lost interest in layers.

Thanks for adding sub osc! This really makes sound more fatter now. I notice, that synth1 is vst 2.0. I dont know what is difference between 2.0 and 2.4, but 2.4 is more native in these days.

daichi thanks for your hard work! big respect man!
a feature request bump!
A + for a guy who made a wise request for the presets
(cant find the post to quote it)
>> Dont close the preset window when clicking to a preset! Let it be open to be able to browse faster. One click to listen without closing the window - double click to load the preset and close the window) <<

I know that Synth1 is a freebie, and that therefore M. Toda hasn't the commercial imperatives brands trying to sell their stuff have, but hey,
we @ KVR could organize a synth1.1(x) sound designing contest,
...with various categories like :
- Fretless basses
- Agressive basses
- Round basses
- Classic pads
- Dreamy pads
- Weird pads
- Nice leads
- Aggressive leads
- FXs
- ...
The best patches could be compiled in a bank that would come with any synth1 copy downloaded from Daichi's website (and their sounddesigners credited for their work).
Such a contest could immeditaly get a great patch bank M. Toda could include in his release and get synth1 heard as the quality synth it is.
About the GUI... to me, it's allright ! Simple, effective, working, clear... all fine here.
But once again, I've learned to cope with stupidity and I've often been told that non-blingbling GUI + freebie = crap (without even listening to the sound the synth produces). I know this mentality sucks but unfortunately, it's widespread...
Once again :
a GUI design contest here on KVR could guarantee M. Toda - for free - a great GUI he could optionally include in his upcoming versions of synth 1
To me, it wouldn't make any difference, but to many "average" people it would.

Mr. Daichi has stated that to upgrade the vst module he first must understand the importance of doind that. The request was to implement vst3 standard.keel wrote:I notice, that synth1 is vst 2.0. I dont know what is difference between 2.0 and 2.4, but 2.4 is more native in these days.
So if someone clearly explains why newer versions of vst are important, Mr. Daichi would probably make this a top prority for a future upgrade.
The only things that I've noticed in higher vst versions are more inputs/outputs and maybe better stability.

Changelog:
He's really been busy again:
Changelog:
Ver1.11 (2010.5.9)
* Sound Engine
o The sub oscillator was added.
+ The same pitch as oscillator1 or one octave under can be selected.
+ When OSC1 is eight multiple unison, the suboscillator becomes similar, too.
+ FM modulation also influences the suboscillator as well as OSC1.
+ The suboscillator doesn't influence the AM modulation.
+ When the amount of the suboscillator is raised, the entire volume is automatically adjusted not to grow.
+ The wave pulse of the suboscillator always becomes a square wave regardless of a pulse width parameter.
o The saw wave was changed from rising type to the descent type.
+ To operate the suboscillator effectively, it changed.
+ The amplitude value by 0 phases changed from 0 to +1.
o The accuracy of the envelope of Amplifier has been improved.
o The limiter algorithm of Filter is changed, and the noise has been improved only a little.
o The performance of OSC1 at eight unisons has been improved a little.
* System requirements
o It did not operate in CPU that did not support SSE2.
+ It seems to cause the expansion of the source code when keeping supporting it any further. To our regret, it was assumed operation off the subject.
+ The error message is displayed in the upper part of the panel when operating with CPU that doesn't correspond, and the sound is not generated.
* Small improvement and change of GUI
o A part of objection of the parameter name was corrected.
o The patch selection window etc. were shut with the escape key.
* BugFix
o Problem of operation of sustaining pedal
o Problem that old FM setting value remained at voice trigger
o Problem that loudness at unison has changed in old version
o Problem that gain knob of Amplifier did not occasionally work
o Problem that patch change with program change spin button was not made good after it writes it in another bank
o Problem with thing that Synth1 window flickers according to environment
o Problem that position where parameter selection window etc. are displayed does clip to primary monitor in multimonitor environment

In new version there is something diffrerent with FineTune of OSC2 ,its pulsating somehow, you can hear pattern clearly on some patches ,its suppose to be like that in synth during finetune or is it bug ? In previous versions it doesnt happen.
