I hear you man. So no Cubase or Nuendo or S1 or Vegas (which also needs QT for those vids) will be used by you because of Quicktime. You're probably not the only one who feels that way.

Most people are (I think) using it without any issues all though... but I hear you. Each must do what's best for them.

I was only clarifying the "no video in S1 on Win" thing which isn't true at all.

Thanks Ben.

You can install Melodyne only on 2 computers.
Maybe you can contact tech support of Melodyne if you want more.

Too bad video works only on Mac. On Windows there is no support for native video. However, you can get video working but you'll have to install an invasive OSX emulation layer and that is not something I'm going to do.
Not sure what you're talking about. Video works on Windows as well perfectly fine.

In terms of Melodyne functionality, there is no difference between the two options you mention. Pro comes with the same Essentials that you have already.

Yeah, you're right. BUt oh well, the price for extra license is 30 us, quite reasonable.

Just asking... do you have S1 installed on 5 computers? The 5 activations aren't really meant for that, although you can do that and still not violate the license terms as long as use isn't concurrent, they're really meant mostly as a convenience, the extra activations.

I think most would have 2 installs of S1, laptop and desktop, home and work, that kinda thing... with the other activations being there for when you do OS re-installs or something.

Nope, i only install it on 2 computer at 1 time. My laptop and pc. THe reason i ask is because i'm thinking of buying a new laptop next month and each activation of s1 will always cost me 1 activation, so i'd rather be safe. It's also the reason why i ask about melodyne, if it's only 2 activation, i'm gonna wait until next month when i get a new laptop to use it.

Melodyne is only 2 activations(or you can transfer your license to an iLok). HOWEVER, you can deactivate it on a computer to open the activation back up so you can install elsewhere. It's just two current activations, not two total.

So while you do only get two, you can install more than twice. Also, Celemony reset mine once because I forgot to deactivate before clearing a hard drive.

Many developers with C/R protection allows (on request) to reset the number of activations if you tell them you have a new computer and no activation left. Best to communicate with the developer for these issues (what they allow).

Post

Peter's right. They (PreSonus, in my experience) pretty much "reset" the 5 activations on demand. If or when you run out, ask and they'll reset your account and you'll have 5 more.

They don't seem to stress over it too much.

I don't have time to read all 36 pages so can somebody tell if S1 V2 has also Melodyne formant correction in addition to pitch correction...? I mean that is the thing if you want to create some artificial alien vocals... :-)

Post

No, formant function not included.

You'd have to upgrade Melodyne.

When you test the demo of Melodyne in S1 V2, beware that you are testing the more advanced "editor" version. Once you register your Melodyne in S1, you get what you paid for (you are only left with control of pitch and time.

A nice surprise, however, is that you get the VST version on melodyne essential (it's not just tied to S1), so you can use melodyne as a vst in any host (although not as easy to use as in S1).

$99 upgrade to V2 Pro was a no brainer. Aside from all the new features, you get melodyne essential vst included ($99 value) + Komplete Elements ($49 value?)+ lots more content... You can also upgrade to Melodyne Editor for $149 ($349 full price) and get V2 of melodyne for free when it is released.

Been playing around with the demo a bit. Nice stuff :D

I certainly hope Presonus approves my Cubase crossgrade, the receipt ain't in english :x

Ok a quick question, can the VST window NOT be 'always on top' ? That seems to be the only 'bigger' issue I encountered.
In process of making music that reeks of turd

Hey guys,
How do you set up soft takeover mode for MIDI controllers in S1? I've managed to map the faders and knobs on my Neko keyboard with multiple banks. But when I switch to a fader on a different bank the fader in S1 jumps when I move it on the Neko instead of waiting for the physical controller to catch up to the fader in S1.

Soft takeover mode is a nifty feature I like very much in Reaper and I was hoping this would be added in S1 v2. I wasn't able to figure how to set it up in version 1 either. Am I missing something or is this not possible in S1? Thanks.

You can set a VST window to stay open by clicking the little thumb tack icon in the upper right.

And they should approve your receipt. After all, the programmers are German(and are the same programmers who worked on Cubase up until a few years ago).
