Drum loops are editable. I often split the drum parts out to their own individual track, sometimes only using the kick or snare etc. You need to spend a bit more time with Nexus.
To be fair, I was thinking about the drums in the SQ patches where you are limited to what's there and that's it.

Yes quite right you can modify the arp in Drum Loop patches for basic patterns and the front panel controls for overall tweaks, but it is still incredibly limited. There's no mixer controls, no way to swap kit parts in the patch, no sep outs for the instruments, no way to individually tweak an instrument rather than the whole lot - it can't hold a candle next to Avenger. In fact I rarely use Avenger either in truth, usually I use Battery and prorgam patterns in the DAW, I just know my way around the interface better I guess.

But I don't begrudge Nexus for all this, the drums are an extra nice-to-have not a core component of why Nexus is useful imo.

True! The knobs and colors are very similar.

I wonder if there’s any advantage over waiting for the November 29th release of Nexus 3, or ordering nexus 2 and waiting for the free upgrade.

I e mailed support and asked if I could order nexus 2 without the usb licenser to get the free upgrade but he suggested waiting for the release of nexus 3.

Wait until Black Friday... unless you don’t mind paying more and you absolutely want to have both v.2 and v.3.

Are you suggesting there's a BF sale on the upgrade pricing??

I guess that would make sense, as it's $99 to upgrade for users who owned it from way back. :tu:

I never read of BF pricing...but I could be wrong.

Looks like the BF sale last year was for 20% off. I guess I will wait until then.

Man Nexus 3 looks sexy.

Huh - whaddaya know, a full sequencer hiding under that Arp tab.

Was there a way of selecting layers before on the Arp? It was all or nothing, right? Maybe - big maybe - this means that SQs can much more easily be broken down into constiuent parts.

As they've announced upgrade pricing for release on BF, I suspect BF pricing will be for new customers...and probably at least 20% off as last year. Has there been any mention of a demo version at launch?
