Syntronik Syntronik 1

Post

When I first got in and starting downloading a few, it felt like imminent disaster until I sorted out what I was doing. I went from not owning ANY Syntronik stuff at all. I never downloaded Syntronik CS, and I still haven't. In IK Product Manager I set my downloads folder to an old platter external HD I've got.

Then within IK Product manager, I made sure to do Install To... for each of the synths. For those, I have them in a Syntronik folder I made on an external SSD drive. Total storage needed for Syntronik 2 all 33 synths is 226GB.

The first couple synths I wasn't doing this install to thing, and I wasn't sure how to control where things went. But I managed to move the first couple manually and sorted it out. Install To... has kept things sorted since then.

This is definitely an installation process that needs the user to be an active participant. Definitely high on the PITA scale, but the price for what you get here makes a little installation legwork well worth it.

Me too.
I don't see any way to download them either. I've searched through all 98 entries in "my products" and in several "download resources" locations.

Not that big of a deal here but they were promised as an incentive to max out the group buy which we have done.
Maybe they will have to upgrade the GB participants to an actual "MAX" license to make the resources appear in our accounts. Just a thought...

Who knows. It wouldn't be an IK Group Buy without a screw up somewhere. Shouldn't be hard to link to a file.......

On W10P I saw my C:\users\Public\Documents\IK...was overfilled and products weren't downloading (paused) last week. So I moved them from my small 256GB SSD to one of my 2 TB drives. I then went to settings cog icon on the IK Product Manager and designated my 2TB folder as the install location. I moved all the zips from my C: drive to a folder on the E: drive and used the "Install To" for each products. I was lucky I caught it when I only had 16 synths or so. I had to reinstall ST4 CS samples from zip files as my 180 days expired on that. So my downloads (zip files) and my working synths are on E: (2TB) and my little SSD can function again.
I have questions...keep in mind, I'm new to softsynths beyond the old Propellerhead Rebirth and a little time on Massive:
1. Already been asked....multis... I have them for Syntronik 1 CS but I don't see any for Syntroik 2 (CS).
2. Why use Syntronik 2 interface or wrapper when Sample Tank 4 gives all the Syntronik 1, 2, ST3, ST4 items? What do I not know about this?
3. The presets load from my 2 TB mechanical drive instead of my NAND SSD...once it loads, will there be any disadvantage playing it live or recording? (doesn't seem to be in ST4). I'm guessing it's in RAM at that point. I just want to check as I'm new to the keys synth and samples.
4. I have Sample Tank 3 CS but don't have a Sound download for it(like I do for ST4 CS). Did it come packaged as an all-in-one download or do I have to do something to get the sound content?
Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Yeah its excellent VFM. And having played around just now with the multi patch editor, its really easy to use and layer stuff. This time next week I'll have a nice library of sounds to play with!

So is Sampletank 4 necessary to run Syntronik 2?
The IK product manager forced the download of Sampletank4 (it couldn't load the synths without I believe it said?).
Can I remove SampleTank & Custom Shop (I need every GB I can save) since I have no intention of using anything outside of Syntronik2?

Bug?: No matter what I map MIDI CC#15 to (aka knob 2 on a Komplete Kontrol keyboard) it seems to always control Amp Attack as well although the on screen visual knob does not move. Same result on all legacy synths (the new V2's seem to work as intended). Any ideas?

Synths sound great btw, just realized I'm a fan of sampled oscillators as I loved SynthMagic & Tronsonic's output as well.
Oh and thanks to everyone with the tip to change the download folder as a first step, this has been a relatively painless install thanks to you.

Fantastic value for money indeed, especially as it's now maxed out. The install is a PITA but I think the secret is to jump on early and install as the bonus content becomes available, one at a time. (Learning from last years balls up).
I wonder what happens if I press this button...

I would imagine IK will want to be selective with who gets that link (i.e., only GB participants).

And I think that the Syn2 Multis are in the main Sounds Downloads list in your User Area / My Products / Syntronik 2 section (but maybe only if buy Syn2 or Syn2 MAX?)
Not here, that's what got me to thinking that the Syn2 full or MAX might be required. I'm currently running Syntronik 2 CS.

I also have Syn1 Free, Syn1, and Syn1 Deluxe registered to my IK account, and the Syn1 multis are not available in the Syn1 Free resources, but are available in the higher editions of v1.

That's a shame because if the Group Buy goes all the way, I will have the equivalent of Syn2 MAX as far as instruments go, but no v2 multis.
I just read that, now that the GroupBuy has reached maximum tier, we also get the 300 extra Multi's, since we effectively bought into Syntronic 2 Max. However, I can't seem to figure out *where* to find or download those Multi's. Anyone have a clue? Even the hint above doesn't really make sense to me: which User area? On the website, or in the IK Product Manager?
Usually I'm not one to complain about fuzzy installers or broken filepaths (after 30+ years behind computers), but this one eludes me (after having figured out the messy Syntronik 1 versus 2 installation, and SampleTank 3 versus 4, and the location of the demo Syntronik 2 patches versus the definitive patches, and other assorted messiness.

Syntronik 2 extra Multi's... please? Thx 4 any hints in the proper (and probably, in hindsight, obvious) direction :hail:

So I should have read all 30-something pages then... damn...:)

Thanks zzz00m. I won't even ask about the 2011-12 version of Sample Tank I received bundled with Sonar X-1P as I imagine all the samples now are better quality/resolution. I still have Authorization Manager for my old Amplitube 3 X-GEAR from the same bundle. Audio has come a long way since I was using an Creative Labs SB AWE 32 Gold with the 2MB upgrade and soundfonts. I thought the Live with the Live Drive was genius...I went right to the Deltas when Audigy came out. I still record mostly guitar driven music but dabble in new age too The 90's style Industrial, Acid Techno dance music that I loved by Crystal Method, Chemical Brothers, Prodigy, Stabbing Westward, Gravity Kills, Marilyn Manson have inspired me. Even Godsmack's use of synths on the first album is something I've wanted take influence from. I never got the results I wanted using Fruity Loops or Rebirth. I think this GB is great. I bought Massive as part of a sitewide bundle (across three sites)...I feel it's worthless in my hands with my current level of experience with synths. These presets with the synths for the GB are phenomenal and will give me a great head start. I still intend on going through every preset on every synth (about 20/33 left) to make sure I'm not missing anything. I'm keeping the zip files in case it takes more time than I have to download (180 days) again. As I mentioned I have "Welsh's Synthesizer Cookbook" from 2006 and understand it on paper....not practically yet. I watched the demo on YT that IK put out when Syntronik 2 was released and really learned about the product but as far as synth programming goes, I'm just a rainbow in the dark. Does anybody have any suggestions for sites or YT channels that explain the fundamentals of syths?

Has anyone noticed that there is a big difference in latency performance between the stand alone synth and as a VST3 plug in. It seems unusable as standalone (using the same audio interface). But, I can get acceptable latency (without artifacts) in Gig Performer). [Always open something I am not doing right].

For Windows, make sure that you are using the ASIO driver if your audio interface manufacturer provides it. Or at least Windows WASAPI, which has improved latency for Windows 10.
