Hi lulukom!lulukom wrote:Hi Attila!

when "No rule found" appears that means the previous chord is not found among the rules, so there is no suggestion possible. E.g. if you selected Pop Minor Scale rules, and click on a chord following 'I', no rules will be found because the Pop Minor Scale rules contain 'Im' or 'Im7' as the previous chord, but not 'I'. This will be much more obvious when the rules will be editable.
In this case if you click on the very first chord in your song, all possible first chords are displayed. Then you can choose one and as a result all possible next suggestions will be valid.
The crash is fixed now. It happened when "No rule found" was displayed. Thank you for reporting it!lulukom wrote:-when trying to enter chords using MIDI keyboard (in the window suggestions chords) obtained immediately crash!

Just one thing i need to ask : when this lovely separate user file done in v2.8, do i re- import my progression to database again?
or is this will be possible : rename current "ChordProgressions.rcCHPR" and put in to user directory?
then open RC delete all factory presets from it ...done?
ok, ill quote myself once and answer this Q. might be helpful in the future..
i just tried copy from my backup and paste inside to new one
(2.7b7-x64 which is replaced my custom progressions) and it worked!
so i guess when this update arrive we can open old (backup ed) progression (.rcCHPR) with notepad and select+copy custom progressions from it and paste inside to the new user progression (.rcCHPR).

Hi Attila,
the chord suggestion feature is a good idea and I like the implementation. But what happened to the possibility to set the inversion or input the chord formula for the chosen chord?

I kinda liked this option and used it frequently. Hope it isn't gone now, but I can't find it any more.
Greetz,
Max

Hi Max,
it is still there, right in the middle of the screenshot. Next to the 'Bass' note menu, there is 'Inversion'.
I realize (and I am planning this for a while) that a visual "inversion and spread" editor will be needed.
Thanks,
Attila

A new beta version was uploaded a few minutes ago.
Note: this won't overwrite your chord progression library like the previous installer did!
Improvements:
- Chord names fixed in traditional notation
- You can right click on the dice button in the chord inspector to have more options
- 2 new options added for 'Generate Chord Progression' in the master track and timeline inspectors to create more interesting progressions: diversity (from expected to unexpected) and allowing to return to the previous chord (e.g. if I-V-I is allowed)
- Bugs reported on the support forum fixed (thank you!)

Hi Attila,
I am sorry, I was not precise enough.
The feature is available in the screenshot that I posted, I know, but the screenshot is from 2.7b6 and I am wondering how I can get this back in 2.7b7 (and 2.7b8 which I just downloaded).
Now a left click brings up the new chord suggestion window and a right click brings up the chord picker window, whereas in 2.7b6 a left click brought up the chord picker window and a right click brought up the window that is shown in my screenshot shown above.
So, where can I set the inversion, etc. now?
Greetz, Max
edit: ok, 10 minutes later and I just found out that I have to click somewhere beneath the chord symbol and not on it

Hi Max,
I see, sorry. Yes, the small rectangle around the chord represents the smallest unit with its own chord/scale/tempo/signature setting. Left click will make a selection (shift-left to select multiple boxes) and right click opens the master track inspector.
Clicking on the chord label will open different pop-up windows (left click for the chord suggestions, right click to open the palette).
Thanks,
Attila

Hello everybody
I transfer here a double bug report about sustains and lack of reception of note-off by some VSTs.
It makes Attila's work easier.
Now we can continue on that focused thread.

dark-i wrote:Hi great program,
I am trying out the demo version on cubase 7.5, windows 8.1, connected to vst's and was wondering about the chord palette.
I have noticed if I select a chord in the palette and then try another chord they build up on top of each other, as if the first chord I selected the keys are held, then the second, third and so on until there is a wall of sound.
I tried this on cubase retrolouge vst synth and you can see the keys are been held on the virtual keyboard, the only way I can turn them off is to press the keys on the virtual keyboard or turn off the input of the channel in cubase.
Is this ment to happen and is there a way to stop it.
Thank you
D
BlackWinny wrote:Hem... Maybe I don't undestand very well what happens but... Haven't you locked a sustain somewhere?
dark-i wrote:I don't know, is there a lock sustain?
I had this problem in windows 7 too and have just had a clean install of everything including windows 8.1 and all drivers updated in the last week, I haven't changed any settings.
It only happens with the chord palette, not with anything else, midi keyboard or if i play chords through rapidcomposer there is no held notes, don't know what could be causing it.
I have noticed too that when I loop in cubase the last notes of the loop are held until released by being played again in the loop.
musicdevelopments wrote:Hi Dark-i,
the previously held notes are turned off by sending 'all notes off' to the instrument. Is it possible that the vst synth does not handle this control message? Have you tried using another vst synth with chord preview?
Thanks,
Attila
dsan@mail.com wrote:FWIW - I've noticed that stopping play in the middle of a sustained note does not seem to send all notes off, resulting in the continued playback of the note until I perform a program change. Even hitting the panic button does not seem to kill the sustain.
This is particularly true if the phrase contains a chord; however, if memory serves, it has been intermittent.
Like Attila, I thought the problem may have been the vst synths so developed a work-around; however, one synth in particular, Kontakt, I am quite sure receives all MIDI messages.
I apologize for not mentioning this previously; however, my work-around was to allow playback until the end of the phrase which caused me to forget about the problem. dark-i's post refreshed my memory, thank you!
HTH you Attila.
Happy Musiking!

These two cases seem have a correlation and point out a real bug not yet related (or forgotten in the past). Therefore the best is to report all that in this preset thread in order to prevent a dispersion in the "buglist" managed by Attila.dark-i wrote:Hi, yes I have tried this on a few synths lush 101, synthmaster, retrolouge, padshop and in reaper I found the same responce.I have noticed this too, as I am having a timing issue with rapidcomposer in cubase and the loop was repeating on a chord, the chord was holding into the next loop.dsan@mail.com wrote:FWIW - I've noticed that stopping play in the middle of a sustained note does not seem to send all notes off, resulting in the continued playback of the note until I perform a program change. Hello!
The latest beta version (v2.7b9) is available now for Windows and OS X. This is very close to the v2.7 version to be released early August. Unless you find a bug or a feature is badly missing.
Changes:
- Chord progression rules editing is possible (though not mandatory
)
- Chord Preview was fixed in the VST plug-in as it had serious issues. Not just that, but playback and other previews will work better. Some virtual instruments did not tolerate the way 'All Notes Off' was used in RapidComposer, which was sometimes sent immediately before a 'Note On' to turn off previously sounding notes.
- Extra chord progressions are included in a separate file (PopProgressions.rcCHPR) so no files are overwritten during installing this update
I am afraid I won't be available in the next 9 days to reply to your comments and questions.
Best,
Attila
