Diva Vs. Real Analog

Back on topic. German KEYS magazine just in. Concludes "die neue Referenz" (but notes high cpu usage, fair enough)
Similarly, Amazona.de gave her 4 out of 3 stars.
So I think Diva ain't all that bad in sounding analogue.

Congratulations from me too for that review.Urs wrote:Back on topic. German KEYS magazine just in. Concludes "die neue Referenz" (but notes high cpu usage, fair enough)

Personally i never said that Diva is bad at all, i just said that there is a small difference and only if i use my Slim Phatty for comparison which is not a 100% appropriate comparison as i mentioned too several times.
I was also not judging about the Jupiter, Juno or MS-20 modules as i got no hardware synth for comparison which is close to them and the time i had a Jupiter 8 myself is around 7 years ago.
I have also mentioned that with additional FXs like e.g. CamelPhat3, Schwa Oligarc Drive or an EQ like Stillwell Vibe-EQ (those are 3 FXs i tested myself) the remaining difference to the Slim Phatty gets even smaller.
Besides all that it looks like i was the only one in this thraed who really tried to post a 1:1 comparison with a real analog synth like it was intended by the OP.
I admit i have also mentioned Synthix but only as another example for analog sounding softsynths and not for doing a 1:1 comparison. We could come back to that as soon as Diva got some Synthex modules.

Thanks Ingo, I never thought you didIngonator wrote:Personally i never said that Diva is bad at all
We're actually thinking of opening up our Lil Phatty to see what's going on in there. Maybe we can add whatever they did with their overload knob.

i was sure you understood me but maybe some others not...
About the Phatty: That filter overload really seems to be interesting and it would be great to have something similar in Diva which would make it even better IMO. Maybe in a technical way that overload is not that complicated at all (i have no idea...) but the result is really great, at least for my taste.
BTW i had a comparable experience when using the filter drive in the Waldorf Blofeld, especially the Tube drive model. In my own bank for the Blofeld i have used it in almost any preset.
Recently i tried to use Diva in combination with CamelPhat 3.5 which in some cases is even a bit too much for my taste.

Wow ! All this because I answered to someone who had posted about the Synthix ?ttoz wrote:this has blown my mind to read this.Urs wrote:Well, you only doubted a couple of times that we actually did anything special - you try to diminish our work as the same kind of thing as typing down code from a paper. You even sent Howard an abusive email about how lame PSpice emulations are, and how you could have done it yourself and yada yada (why then isn't there any synth that does this?). I've tried to keep things civil by explaning things to you in private emails. To which you react with threats of "war". Your fighting that war alone, somehow unpleasantly in our threads.Lotuzia wrote:I never made a single comment about Diva itself, its quality, or less quality, or sound, etc etc either here (KVR) or in GS.
Laurent has always been so kind and polite to me and i actually *can't* believe this.
Then URS you are always so nice and good to me too.
This has done my head in and i hope it isn't true or just some big misunderstanding.
I made you another welcome when you posted in a Xils-Lab delay thread ( note that I don't say "our" threads ) to promote your MFM delay a few hours ago.
What I said to Howard in private IS private. And its a fault and completely unethical to mention it publicly imho, especially as 1/ Its rather far from what I said to him and 2/ We have exchanged you and me by email about Pspice. ( So you know that I couldnot have said "pspice emulations are lame" btw)
There are laws in France to protect privacy of emails, and btw emails are legal proofs. ( And btw its also false that we echanged with Howard by Email, it was by PM in another forum were both registered
Opposite to you, I don't "try to keep things civil" I'm civil all the way.
Speaking of war, I cant see what you're speaking of. If someone declares the war I cant unfortunately see someone else than you presently.
Someone else in this thread did say that you can be very touchy when you feel that someone disagrees with you, and I think
There's no war, we have expressed some different opinions on different matters in private, and that does not make things other than just people disagreeing. End of. Nothing personal.( From my side )
I wont even bother to answer to you on some technical points people have no interest in.
Concerning "your" threads I was answering to someone who mentioned the Synthix. I did not even mention Diva once in this thread. I never commented Diva in your forum. You dont own Kvr afaik.
I'm sincerely willing to forget this post I read from you. If you agree lets stop this. and ..... stay civil.
+ Note : I saw this night that after the intervention of Hibidy you obviously removed your post. So I just decided not to post my answer. Now that this morning its public again, and due to the fact that you have even added some new comments, I'll simply ask a moderator to take care of all this.
If you can't keep privaye comments like a man, and take on a personal level that people simply differ on the view of your work, its your problem, not mine.

Dude!! This one takes the cake, I mean, Pizza, no, I mean it takes the emulation scenario up a few notches!!Urs wrote:Back on topic. German KEYS magazine just in. Concludes "die neue Referenz" (but notes high cpu usage, fair enough)

I think it would be wise to just shut up in this context. People see this and are turning away. And out of curiosity, as KEYS is not in the bookshops over here, how did they rate some other tested ones in the same edition? According to their website amongst these are:
Arturia Oberheim SEM V (didn't buy from the offer, do I have to regret?)
MaxSynths Crisalys (looks promising, but is it worth?)
Cakewalk Z3TA+ 2.1 (thinking of upgrading from version 1)
(and hardly dare to mention here) xils-lab Synthix

For now, I prefer to use external saturation on Diva, but good modeled overdrive will be just awesome.
Diva sounds more ANALogue than your grandma's synth

Haven't seen a review for Z3TA+ (only audio examples), but the verdicts for all of the above seemed positive to me. They don't have a rating system. Each has a few plusses and a few minusses. SEM V and Diva are the more comprehensive reviews with added interviews and stuff.Albert.VST wrote:Arturia Oberheim SEM V (didn't buy from the offer, do I have to regret?)

Speaking about magazines, any change they will persuade you for a Diva LE to give with (one of) these magazines? Expected reaction
or
although....
