Tarekith wrote:I keep running into an issue with Equilibrium thinking I have more than one band selected even when only one is. I'll go to raise the gain on one band, but 2 or 3 of them will raise at at the same time (yes, I've double-checked that I ONLY have one band actually selected). What's weird is that hitting the undo button in Equilibrium resets the band I meant to raise, but not the other ones that accidentally raised too.

Had this happen in both the lastest versions of Studio One and Triumph. Anyone else seeing this?
this drives me crazy as well!

Professional technicians are assessed by the abilities they possess.
Amateur technicians are assessed by the tools they possess - and the amount of those tools, with an obvious preference to the latest hyped ones.

One more quick question about serial vs parallel bands. How do plugins normally do this? In serial?

What is the advantage of setting EQuilibrium to parallel?

Yep, most EQs are serial. Parallel is more subtle and can be great for air and upper mid boosts particularly in a mastering context.

The UBK Clariphonic is parallel for instance, and is prized for it's ability to boost highs smoothly.

To (very approximately) simulate the Clariphonic in EQuilibrium try the 250 curves in Parallel. Like in the Clariphonic, the bell opens up a very wide boost across the whole spectrum as well as the area being boosted as you increase the gain.

Aiynzahev has some screen shots of these curves from the Clariphonic plugin in this thread (I haven't used it myself)

What's the best way to find out about updates?

Here? Or do you have a mailing list that you use?

Front page of the dmgaudio.com site, about halfway down on the left "join our mailing list".

That gets emails about all updates and stuff.

Welcome back Dave! Here's some more feedback:

1. There's a little inconsistency between Equilibrium and EQuick: you can't ctrl+click to unselect several bands at once in Equilibrium.

2. The midi control of band frequency really confused me when I first had that happen... maybe have that disabled by default? :P

3. The automatical band unselect on mouse move is still bugging me... any chance of making that feature optional? =)

Cheers

Hopefully my previous post didn't get buried beneath all the sillyness :)

Here's another one:

Bypassing/engaging band listen on a 4kg low shelf introduces a nasty volume spike when audio is running. The spike also happens when band-listening other bands while the low shelf is active. I tested other bands/filter types and the 4kg low shelf seems to be the only one causing this problem.
