I just uploaded a new version that should work. It's at the same url. Please let me know if you still have trouble.

I have to admit I'm having a lot of trouble. I was doing an Ambivalent Soundscape and I well, er, uh...Wopelka wrote:and where is yours, George ?![]()
don't forget: tomorrow's the last day for submissions...
...Put it this way, there were things I liked and things I didn't, so I've mixed, remixed and remixed the remixes but I'm just not happy with anything. So I put it aside and I'm contemplating another approach that's less ambient. I thought ambient would be easy to do since I used to do it so much and I love the genre but I guess it's just not my bag anymore.
I'm going to post something I hope. It'll be a late night but I'm going to submit something...
Sometimes creating is easy and other times it's such a chore.

Back from a fortnight in sunny cornwall. For those who heard about the weather down there - I missed all the floods by about 40 miles!
I have a lot of catching up to do in listening - can't promise to finish the reviewing I started, but will post as I am able.
People have said nice things about my piece - Glad that it made folk smile!

Nice arranging and chops chap. Made me chuckle too.
nikp2000 wrote:Duncan Parsons, Quirky vocals and oddball arrangement. Very Prefab Sprout-ish. I like it.
Yeah, I'm against all this Genetically Modified stuff too... ;)farlukar wrote:duncanpersons - I like the composition, but overall it sounds a bit too GMish...
Ta, I take that as a complement. Time was my biggest problem with this. Once I had settled on the idea, I had to get it finished fast, due to full-time job, family with 3 kids, holiday, etc. I was happy enuff to put it out, but probably would have benefitted from another day or two..GuitarJeff wrote:The Chimp Who wasn't There - Duncan Parsons
I really like this. It sounds like an "Album Cut" from Steely Dan. Sorta Like "Throw Back The Little ones" or something. You have Fagan's singing style pretty well nailed. My main criticism would be that some of the vocal phrases could be better during the fast part. If I were producing, I would have had you do some more takes of certain lines. Particularly the "Pina Colada" line with the P-pop that sounds rushed. It is Still one of my favorites though.

This made me laugh,Markleford wrote:Don't Let Sleek Month Win

History: In the July 2003 contest, seldom@kvr submitted a track called "Don't Let Sleek Month Win". At the time I was amused by the concept of one person doing this sort of song each month, but hadn't thought again of doing one myself until now, given Sleek's recent successes, and a "free for all month" seems to be my window of opportunity.
Evolution: I'd came up with the vocal line last year when first considering the track, but hadn't gone any farther than thinking that I'd steer it in a They Might Be Giants direction (as I was listening to their "John Henry" album constantly at the time). Upon revisiting it this month, it all fell into place very quickly, and my recent dabbling in playing horns cemented the deal.
Trivia: The bridge section contains a measure each from 14 different Sleek Month contest submissions. Can you name them all in order? Can you name his two entries since July 2002 that were *not* used?

Yah, I could do something simple.. it used to report the title of every track it was working on, but I got tired of the chattiness...how about a progress/file indicator? Would be nice.
For now, just open up the directory it's downloading into, and watch the files show up.
