i just tried a few of my analog oldies and newbiesmachinesworking wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2020 11:25 pm .... Any old hardware has usually choices on how note stealing works, with always assigned to the same note an option. […]
polysix, jx8p, mophoX4, matrix1000
none of them have such a behaviour
nor any notestealing-option for poly that i could find anywhere
(only regular first/last/etc for mono/unison modes)
funny also:
this kind of hard-trigger note-cutoff isn't even in arturias hardware mini/microbrutes
they pick the slow attack where the release is and don't cut the release
as do quite a lot of mono's that i've just checked (minimoog, micromoog, brutes, roland system100, jen, arp axxe)
only korg ms20 and monologue cut the release

The Memorymoog has options for cyclic, memory cyclic, same voice etc. The Xpander here has the same. This is specifically for synths with poly modes, mono is always going to cut the voice, unless you use it in duophonic mode.muki wrote: Fri Jan 03, 2020 1:14 ami just tried a few of my analog oldies and newbiesmachinesworking wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2020 11:25 pm .... yes, but rarely in full cycle as is done in pigments
i mean:
the attack catches up the level of the release when triggered and does not
start from complete 0 as pigment does
at least that's what i've seen now with mini/micromoog/brutes etc, even ms20
only the monologue cuts fully
man, do those oldies sound good
haven't switched them on since months...

The Memorymoog in mono mode has a setting for retriggering the ADSR, so you can either having it go through the cycle with legato notes or trigger the ADSR again every time.muki wrote: Fri Jan 03, 2020 2:19 ami seemachinesworking wrote: Fri Jan 03, 2020 1:57 am

These would all be great things to see in Pigments IMO, especially since everything is pointing to it having either a limited voicing or them using note per voice instead of cycling as a way to save CPU. All they have to do is let people know that using cyclic type voicing will increase CPU use etc.

i got an email from edouard telling me he has submitted my message as feature request
hmm...still wondering if edouard is biological or algorithmical....

edit:
well, i'm gonna visit their "feature request"-site now more often and regularly
for example a global on/off switch for FX ans Seq would be nice imho
and there's a quite a lot to keep their bots engaged

A lock for Master Volume knob when browsing presets would be VERY useful. And while we are it, Master Volume knob needs to be a bit bigger and better. It's little difficult to spot it, and the colour combination also is not good in my opinion.

Set up an automation lane for the volume to lock it. I do this all the time when browsing reverb presets to lock parameters such as wet/dry, pre-delay, etc.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2020 9:19 am A lock for Master Volume knob when browsing presets would be VERY useful. Thanks, I appreciate the tip, but a bit too much for a small thing, which I believe should be on the plugin as an option.Mushy Mushy wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2020 12:17 pmSet up an automation lane for the volume to lock it. How many VSTs have this? I don't recall seeing one. That's not to say I just haven't found the functionality though.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2020 1:33 pm

Even I can't recall any. It's just that having got used Komplete Kontrol, where you can set the level of KK that remains consistent while you change your instruments, that I thought about it.Mushy Mushy wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2020 2:01 pmHow many VSTs have this? Ah ok. Arturia are generally NKS compatible so perhaps this is on the roadmap.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2020 2:05 pmEven I can't recall any. Yes, waiting for Pigments 2 presets to be NKS compatible.Mushy Mushy wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2020 2:08 pmAh ok. Why? If you did that you'd have patches that are naturally quiet that you couldn't hear and patches that are naturally very loud blowing your speakers. The main volume's purpose is so that all the patches can be at about the same relative level and in my time with Pigments I have found that to be the case with the factory presets.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2020 9:19 amA lock for Master Volume knob when browsing presets would be VERY useful.
What? Top-right corner is the first place anyone will look for it and that's right where it is. Colour combo doesn't matter when you get a dB readout as soon as you start moving it.And while we are it, Master Volume knob needs to be a bit bigger and better. It's little difficult to spot it, and the colour combination also is not good in my opinion.

A few days ago, I downloaded the Pigments demo. My initial impression was very good, but I noticed a feature I didn't like. Each press of a note, no matter the one or the other, all mod sources are reset. It is not cool, because no matter how deep the modulation, the sound cannot be deployed, especially at fast tempo. This is the only reason why I would not go with this synth.
Any thoughts?
Other synthesizers I'm interested in are Massive X, Dune, Hive. How do they behave?
Note: in Pigments only 3rd LFO does not retrig.
