No matter how hard I try, changing my IP, changing from EUR to $ on share it, cannot bypass that damn vat, oh I hate europe sooooo much...

Googling for Spire only shows me the reveal sound site and dozen of cr***d versions, nobody else is selling it, what a shame this almost make me wanna cry. aaaargh this drive me nuts !

I do wish some of the Devs would help out us Vatties... :)

Ah, there's 'nout you can do really mate, as it's all done automatically. If your VAT registered as a business then you don't have to pay.

Have you tried cloaking your IP? You can chose were you are 'coming from'

Anonymouse used to work, see if its still about.

Also try to delete your cookies for the site. Note that all of that is probably illegal though...

Thanks for your help all ^^ I was becoming so angry about that I decided to give up and go outside to take the sun instead of making myself sick about this.

But then I came back to see what ppl said. I've tried Anonymouse but it doesn't seems to let me choose my location, doesn't change anything on Reveal Sound website.

I tried TOR, my ip came from Panama, but doesn't change anything again.

Is anyone living in USA can confirm that the prices are showed in Euros on the Spire website ?

In the meantime I will call a friend who has his VAT registered as business to see if he can help...

I'm here struggling on the damn computer screen instead of enjoying good weather outside :( and we already have few sun in belgium...

Well, if it was me, then i would just pay the damn VAT instead of stepping into unknown law territory. As i wrote, it's most likely that it is illegal to trick the system that way.

Yeah, this is it man... You don't want or need the tax people checking you out. As they will be down on you like a ton of brinks.

Better safe than sorry imo...

I don't care about scamming the state, I have no respect for them. If I was in vacation I could buy the software from there and not have to pay VAT, then I could change my address in the user database or something like that. I want to support soft devs, but I hate when the price is not VAT included. If I see 69€ on the website, then when I want to check out it is 80+, it just stops my hand and makes me feel bad. Anyway I prefer to keep my money then. If the thing with my friend doesn't work, then bye bye Spire and with no regrets. Unless the dev himself would be eager to get my money direct in his pocket then we came come to an arrangement.

Ok I know I'm doing a lot for not so much, I guess it is that kind of day when brain has malfunction. Now I'll go eat something and try to relax, the sun is almost gone already so I lost my day :D I must be crazy in fact, to react like that.

Already paying the paypal fee is stopping me to make a buy usually, so 21% vat... cannot stand these vampires sucking our blood.

Btw, there was some project started from Russians to build a synth inspired by the Access Virus. Somebody knows if this project is still alive?
I suppose that this project (it was named Cell) eventually turned into Spire. But I'm not 100% sure. The former Cell dev is active sometimes at a Russian forum, i may ask him if i once happen to catch him online.

My friend is ok to help me, so when he will come back at his home tonight, I will buy without VAT :D yay ! Made my day, plus he has to give me back some money for similar stuff we've done before so it is happy surprise day for me finally.

If in the meantime Spire get out of introductory price I think I will kill someone then myself to compensate :D so I hope it will stay at this price till tonight ! :D

EDIT : Mmmmh now I have another little problem... Where do I enter the VAT number for business ??

Post

You dont, you claim it back when you do your tax return.

crap :( I don't want to wait end of the year. If I cannot afford 20€ right now, I cannot wait for get them back in the future too. I feel doomed. Sorry for polluting this thread with my money concerns, I'm out for now :(

Hmm... That's why there is TI inspired filter type in Spire ;)

4damind wrote:You should hire some preset developers (or give them a synth for free if they making a sound bank). IMO the preset list is too small, could be a problem for people judging only because of the presets. You know that synth like Sylenth got so much success not only because of the sound, the presets are a big selling point.
I'm working on a soundbank but since I don't do this full-time and because I'm a perfectionist, it won't be out before October I guess.

As far as Reveal Sound's country of origin, a simple whois request on the website's url will give you a lot of info.
I did it but won't reproduce the results here since it's not really public info.
All I will say is that they are indeed based in Russia.
I'm working on a bank as well, and also doing it part time, so it will be a while still before it's ready.
