Same with Roland's LA-synthesis.

so you agree it's a better representation of the synth's parameters, but that puts you off the interface? or is it just the flat design?

the idea behind using the original diagrams as control elements was to make the UI (i think) Yamaha originally intended, but had to hide behind the whole single-input slider setup. it seemed authentic as well as being a usability improvement.

I am in favour of the graphical representation of the parameters (the keyboard tracking, the way it is currently, always makes me uncertain of what are the correct values for the curve I have in mind, and the envelopes are usually almost completely hidden). But I also don't like the style at all, and would rather prefer the one being used currently. So, it would be the current style (with faders and buttons, and the greenish colours) with the kind of layout you posted. At least as an alternative, this would be good.

It would be nice to know the name of the last selected BANK/CART in Dexed... I have created nice tune using my energyXT sequencer... now I am trying to move this work from energyXT to Sonar X3 DAW and the problem is in patches. I can see the names of used patches but I don't remember which bank/banks name they come from... At the moment I tired looking hundreds of my DX7 soundbanks... So the idea for the bank name beside the patch name. In real DX7 you can see the only one catdridge that is inserted :)

i agree. probably the current gui elements could be arranged just a little bit different.

I fail to see how putting all the controls into some sort of spreadsheet configuration would make this a better instrument :?

The current GUI is still the most inviting for me :tu:

imo it's just a little more clear, but i can live very well with the current layout

I agree that it does look a bit clearer, and it mimicks the colouring and style of the h/w quite nicely.

I think it would benefit from borders around modules, though.

Nice work!

That looks so much better. I hope he changes the GUI accordingly.

But the dev hasn't said if he'll do a redesign, so... keep dreaming!

That GUI is one of the best I've seen. Good looking at very clear. Makes myfingers itch to start tweaking.

So, I'm dreaming on.

using Dexed for the first time in a song.
Found a bug.

Dexed v 0.8 64bit
Reaper 4 64 bit
Windows 7 64 bit

When I change the value of the Level knob and then close the fx window on the particular track in Reaper and open it again, the value of the level knob is back to max.
Got two instance of Dexed runnin on the same track in Reaper for layering.
When I use only one instance of Dexed on the same track, the problem does not occur.
It doesn't occur with other Synth plugins that I know, btw.
Getting clipping because of that in the fx chain, not nice.

too much empty space, knobs are too small and the rocker switches look silly. they should be simple luminated pushbuttons.

sure ... that was just a suggestion. i quickly copied and pasted existing blocks. a lot of optimizations would be necessary.
