I don't care for playing 7 strings that low B string gets in the way in a bad way . Same with Bass so I'm a 4 stringer on bass and 6 and 12 on the guitar ... I love that neck.thru thing going on with the Carvin , I've heard good things about them . I used to get a catalog from Carvin every so often .

Oh yeah, @7: I love the extra string. I really wish the ibee (I like that way of spelling now
) would have worked out as that low B droning was a blast.
And I love me some 5 string bass!
I have two....you'll NEVER guess what kind they are

If it's not far from JRR, I could send our tech over to pick it up for you. He's as picky about guitars as you are and he'll shoot it down if it doesn't look amazing. Also, if there are any issues, he'll determine if they're small enough that he can make the guitar look brand new. He's a wizard, I've never seen another tech fix finish flaws as well as he can.hibidy wrote:Speaking of Carvin, I just ran across a used one from a guy who might be legit. The pics are too big to post but it's in Cali so it wouldn't be a big shipping fee.

Personally, I like that solid maple top but don't like the maple neck-thru.

@Uncle: It's near my area so your guy wouldn't be able to help. Though if it was LA I'd do that in a heartbeat!
@guitar:
I can't swing it right now. Xmas bills were too much. I want to save for my 7 string Carvin and though with the IBEE I could have done 18mo no interest, I can't do that with this. I really need to be able to do xdollars down and then the rest when completed.
I'm bummed.

Rees guitars are in Cambridge which is in easy reach by car. In the new year i'm going to be working with a guy from Mind to help me become a functioning human again and this is going to be one of my goals.

Went and traded in some guitars today a 15 yr old Larrivee 12string acoustic D03 and year or 2 old RS-2 electric/humbuckers ..goodbye ole friends ........ So I tried a Larrivee D03 sitka spruce n swamp ash $1350 ...then tried a Larrivee D40r $1450 I was kind of not floored ....next up ...Martin hd28 $2850 , nice guitar I know this is Martins flagship ..I was looking for a ooo-17m they sold it already .... Anyways the Martin guitar played was setup nice , nice lows and highs , typical 28 had a nice loud volume to it , so Ingo back an tried the 2 Larrivee s again ...yep just didn't do it for me , so then I seen a cedar top mahogany back n side Alvarez MD65 , I've had a Yairi (cedar)and an Artist before nice guitars for the money . loved the Yairi but I always fight with it to play it horrible neck. ... Ok back to the Alvarez MD65 I tried not to peek at the price I seen 3 digits .lolz .hahaha...Okay I tuned all 3 guitars earlier and now the 4th guitar that I played , I tune this guitar and I'm liking the sound even before I get to tuning that final little e string ....Then I start strumming , doing a little finger picking . wow nice guitar for....... $599 .... With nice case ..... So I get home and order the Gibson 2014 melody maker anniversary model red wine finish p90 s , $499, man I hope this one is a winner when x my fingers .....

There seemed to be some feelings here a while back, I don't even remember why. It's not important.
One thing I can say for me is that I'm not really playing as much as I used to, which makes me hesitant to buy anything. I hope that this newest guitar works out well for you

Cool! I have a Larrivee, it's a nice guitar for the price I paid 10+ years ago but I agree that it's not the most inspiring instrument I've played. I actually like the cheap little Taylor GS Mini and Seagull Parlor better.fedexnman wrote:Went and traded in some guitars today a 15 yr old Larrivee 12string acoustic D03 and year or 2 old RS-2 electric/humbuckers ..goodbye ole friends ........ My Seagull 12-string is about 30 years old. It's cedar, I chose that because I didn't want to wait for a spruce top to age. If only I knew then what I know now.
