AmpliTube X-GEAR 1.1 is available as a as a free download for all registered StompIO users, AmpliTube 2 users or registered users of at least one "Powered by AmpliTube" product, including Ampeg® SVX, AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix™ and AmpliTube Metal. Eligible users go to your User Area to download X-GEAR for free.

X-GEAR can also be purchased as a download for €74.99/$99.99 (excluding taxes) on the IK's online store.
I am missing something here?!

Why would anyone buy it for 99.99$. In order to use it you need one of the mentioned products anyways, but if you already got one of them products, you get X-Gear for free!

Did you choose Amplitube2 as the bonus product? (not that it seems to matter according to the product announcement)

Post

It doesn't matter.
Just as I said before, X-GEAR is free for ALL users of Amplitube-powered software!

Post

I don't see it in my account. I own SVX and JHE. The download section in user area doesn't show X-Gear. :(
Peace, my friends. I'm not seeking arguments here. ;)

Bravo, IK!

Yes. I've got an email & a phone call in to IK...must...be...patient.

Redshift, why the heck would they sell it for 99$ then? I don't understand this strategy since it needs one of the Amplitube powered software to work!

It is not like your buying a standalone effects processor!

I edited the PinkWall preset - which I guess is more Pink Floyd, than Tool. But it sounded similar to Lateralus..

I found a bug!

1. Load preset.
2. Go to settings, change the sample rate.
3. Preset sounds totally different!
4. Go to cab page.
5. Switch from one cab model, and then back.. so you're back on the cab model that the preset uses.

Again, sounds totally different!

Interestingly, X-GEAR actually comes with a couple Amplitube 2 amps, and the distortion and wah. So you could get the bare essentials out of X-GEAR alone.

Also, this is a limited time thing. So at some point you may have to pay for it.
Though I doubt it. I think it will always be essentially free to anyone who owns an Amplitube product. That's the way it ought to be anyways.

Weird, fill a tech support form, maybe then can fix it by next year

Post

lmao. Yeah, I mailed them again to fill them in. I think it happens in Ampeg and JHE as well.

What? First of all, who cares about Revalver and Guitar Rig? They're not fit to smell Amplitube's shoes IN MY OPINION. From what I see most other forums I'm the majority. Line 6, is your stuff good? No idea. No downloadable demo means I pass on your software. Waves GTR3? Really? Maybe with it's DI box but on it's own I thought it was horrible. Sure you can get all this stuff with the price difference but if it's not good, who cares?

Second of all, IK Multimedia's crossgrade policy is awesome. They're current two for one special? Awesome. Rip-off? I don't see it. OK, they lowered their software prices and I know that hurts but who hasn't felt that blow?

However, I agree that the I/O Stomp will sit on shelves for a long time unti they lower the price and come out with a hardware only option. My only complaint with IK Multimedia is they don't offer ala carte options. All I know is that I just spent $400 and I got Amplitube 2, Jimi Hendrex Ed, SVX Ed. and T-Racks. That's no rip off. Stomp IO? Get a M-Audio interface for $199 and a Behringer FCB1010 and move on.

IK = Inflation Kills
Like I said, for the money you spent on Amplitube 2, Jimmy Hendrix, Ampex and the chainer, you can get:

a) Revalver MkII Full Blown
b) NI GuitarRig (at least twice)
c) Line6 GearBox Gold (even the core pack has 16+ Amps and 12 Stompboxes ALONE), and a Variax 300 inlcuding control software on top of it

IKM is the master of ripoffs. They really remind me of Waves now. Only like 2% of their stuff is really good, and you have to pay for the rest - and the name IKM. At least they don't have a dongle anymore.

Really dissapointing.
