ttoz wrote:geez when it comes to those comparisons diva starts sounding weirdly digital and not warm again. But ONLY when listening to THOSE examples in the comparison sequence the way it has been made.

But.... But..... compared to after hearing diva then most *every* other plugin sounds digital and cold(er)

so that proves my theory there is always something better and to just be happy with a tool, or not.

when will it end? when the sound is so warm it burns our ears? :hihi:

I think i'll just be happy to be happy with the way something sounds, and i am happy with the way diva sounds whether it is 100% precise emulation or not...if i am comparing and always looking for something better i won't make any music. Or if i don't accept that the perfect 100% analogue clone is not here yet and continue the quest to find it, then i won't make any music, cause i certainly can not afford a real analogue hardware.

I think any song i have ever written and many say the same about their own music, if were to open it in my host today would tweak it to sound better. and in a years time if i were to open it again i would find a way to make it sound better again.

i think at some point we just have to be satisfied instead of always finding something "better".
You are right. Progress is unstoppable. It's just matter of time. But for now, I'm happy enough as owner of Diva. And more then happy about fact, that Diva was created by small independent developer U-He, but not by huge greedy corporation.

Let's stop to look for difference, and start making music with great tools.
I feel pretty covered now with softsynths for comfortable work in the box. Maybe will grab this tiny gritty PPG 3.v, and period...
Btw, can PPG filter be modeled for use inside zebra?

If all modules from diva will go on Zebra, I will be my go to synth.
And with such progress in 5 years it can be the Only One Synth
Less sound sources for choice => faster production.
Diva sounds more ANALogue than your grandma's synth ;)

OK...so when was the last time any virtual synth caused as much excitement/controversy as Diva?

Excitement yes... controversy not really... Diva has been almost universally well received.

Here is my latest sound from Diva with some realtime modulation...

Yamaha DX7 people...remember those? :) :D
I thought DX's were FM ...
It is FM but it is classified as digital....
Yeah ... that was my point. It's not Virtual Digital, it's just plain digital (FM or PM). :)

Only in the sense that I think it re-ignited the whole digital vs Real Analog discussion. Certainly not controvercial with regards to its acceptance.

Personally, I don't care if it sounds like real analog or not, as long as it sounds great, which it does.

Admittedly, I've never even owned an analog synth but I'm sure they're great to play though. At least I play an analog guitar (albeit processed through digital before hitting my analog amp. :)

Very nice Diva sound btw.

This might become an option sooner than we thought. Even "the lost Uhbik" is back on the table.

Yeah, that sounds very good, especially with the modulation!

Similarly, Amazona.de gave her 4 out of 3 stars.

So I think Diva ain't all that bad in sounding analogue.
While browsing through Amazona.de i found a few other products with 4 stars (all hardware):
http://www.amazona.de/index.php?page=26 ... le_id=3786
http://www.amazona.de/index.php?page=26 ... le_id=1406
http://www.amazona.de/index.php?page=26 ... le_id=3450
http://www.amazona.de/index.php?page=26 ... cle_id=636
http://www.amazona.de/index.php?page=26 ... le_id=1970

Of course Diva stays the first software synth with that rating. :)

Owning all synths with that 4 star rating would be a real monster collection.

Well, that does look like some nice company for Diva! :)

Post

yeah, turns out they have 4 stars for "best product of a category". So I guess Zebra had it before, then Dune and now Diva :)
