software is a tool that allows us to complete a given task.
social media is full of tools that distract us from a given task.

Depends on the DAW. I think Ableton has some of the coolest synths and fx. Cubase also seems to have good fx. I'm not too enthusiastic about Bitwig's stuff and stick with a few 3rd-party plugins like Hive.jethrobull wrote: Sat Sep 27, 2025 10:36 am Underrated: The tools you already have

Oh man... for underrated stuff, I definitely gotta say X-Stream by Steinberg. Even though Steinberg is quite famous, I really don't hear this thing talked about much at all. It's the most insane sound library you'll ever load into HAlion Sonic. Another hidden gem is Pitch Drift by BABY Audio. I know it's not the best and its interface is... a baby, but it's great for making guitar VSTs sound more natural!
As for overrated stuff... Most Cymatics fm plug-ins. I just don't get the hype around them. Look at Space - that thing is 25 bucks but the free TAL-Reverb 4 does its job way better than it and sounds more natural.
