I think there is a disconnect between the synth which is a beautiful, complex and enormously capable synth that Current is and the ready to eat preset market.
As I was describing above the latter paradigm works against the first. ie. The content browsers seem to be reserved for the Stream content which really affects the usability of the plugin if you're not interested in the soundware side of things and (as far as I can tell) no way of adding your own content for access within the synth outside of drag and drop.
So say if you wanted to browse a folder full of your own wavetables or samples there seems to be no way of doing that.
I might be missing something here but I don't see any option to add your own content to the main stream "local" area or the in module menus.

All the samples I've imported and wavetables I've created while making presets show up in the Stream browser 'Local' tab. I've not tried it, but I guess if you find the folder these are stored in you'd be able to add more manually.kraster wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 8:45 pm I think there is a disconnect between the synth which is a beautiful, complex and enormously capable synth that Current is and the ready to eat preset market.

It doesn't work. The only way is through drag-and-drop. Both for wavetables and for samples. And Current translates the files into something proprietary. I tried to import some wavetables I created, and files of 517 Kb became files of 4 Mb. I have no idea what it does to the files.biomechanoid wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 9:39 pmAll the samples I've imported and wavetables I've created while making presets show up in the Stream browser 'Local' tab. To correctly import wavetable WAV files, you have to select the option "Existing Wavetable" (which I think is a little confusing - at first I thought it was going to import OVER an existing wavetable). BTW - I don't know where Current puts these. They don't show up in the "Wavetables\Imported" folder as do the synthesized ones. I also have no idea where the imported samples go to.
EDIT. I deleted some imported wavetables, and now they keep showing in the wavetable browser, and there is no way to delete them. Does anyone know how to delete them?

Ah, OK... that's a shame. Hopefully they'll add a way to make it easier.fmr wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 9:55 pm

Imported Wavetables are converted to a proprietary format with the suffix .ma_table.
Each single wavetable is stored in its own directory.
The synth's filesystem seems to be database driven so things like wavetables and samples are added to the database.
Once they're added they'll appear in the "local" tab but it doesn't look like you can easily point at a system directory and just browse.
Like in Phase plant you can just add a path to the in synth browser and browse contents.

I thought that was only for the Factory content.kraster wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 10:32 pm Imported Wavetables are converted to a proprietary format with the suffix .ma_table.

Yeah... The problem is when you want to delete some content. How do you clean up? This system is clearly not meant to be User friendly. The synth's filesystem seems to be database driven so things like wavetables and samples are added to the database.

Hey on the wavetable management, the "import wavetable" doesn't make any sort of files, it just makes a record pointing to your wavetable file on disk, if the file disappears you'll have a missing content error trying to load, you can prompt for the correct path or remove the record, you can also right click the records in the local mode browser and delete it.
We are most definitely going to add a way asap to bulk create full packs pointing to folders for local mode.
The ma_tables are the processed & analyzed results generated from current when you use one of the wavetable creation modes, i.e. you're dropping in a sample and not a wavetable. In that case it does various stuff like pitch detection and time stretching to attempt to create the best wavetable it's able to from a non wavetable type source. Hence some modes making files and some not.
Cheers!

How do you "remove the record" (delete the entries in the list)? Right click doesn't work, at least in Windows 10. Maybe add a button with the option DELETE, instead of Ignore (what's the purpose of Ignore on a warning about a missing file, anyway?) Oh, and Current created LOCAL files, when I imported wavetables using the Synth option. That's why those are now missing - I deleted them.Minimal Audio wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 10:45 pm Hey on the wavetable management, the "import wavetable" doesn't make any sort of files, it just makes a record pointing to your wavetable file on disk, if the file disappears you'll have a missing content error trying to load, you can prompt for the correct path or remove the record, you can also right click the records in the local mode browser and delete it.
You should add a way to import using a dialog box, and give the user the choice to copy the files to the Minimal folder or keep them where they are. IMO, of courseWe are most definitely going to add a way asap to bulk create full packs pointing to folders for local mode.
A more transparent way to manage the content would also be desired. Again... IMO.

Not meaning to sound rude but I don't have any interest in the stream aspect of the synth mainly due to the fact that I have an embarrassing amount content in the form of samples and wavetables collected over the years.
I really love the synth so being able to bulk import or browse the content I already have would be a great addition.

Not rude at all and totally part of the plan. The next update we'll entirely decouple the stream so we can support the new plans, and then we will be happy to add folder drop or a dialog to add folders of content -- once they're imported, everything gets added to a local database which brings some powerful text and tag search capabilities to the content as well.

That would fix my main issue with the synth. It is a fantastic instrument otherwise.Minimal Audio wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 11:11 pm Not rude at all and totally part of the plan. Having said that....a convolution based reverb/processor would also be nice...

I really like that there is a chord mode in this synth. But some things i miss:
-mod matrix to have an overview of modulations
-ability to modulate phase
-wavetable import

Nope... And that seems like the preset selection box. My issue is with the wavetables and/or samples. How do I remove the entries not found?Minimal Audio wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 11:14 pmYou don't see this?fmr wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 10:50 pm How do you "remove the record" (delete the entries in the list)? As I wrote before... maybe add a "DELETE" button in this dialog box?
