The only way to not use any keys is to use audio files only.

i'm using an audio file which is why i am confused. i'll post a screenshot later. i'm sure i'm missing something simple.

I'm able to get it to work how I expected if I only use the audio file, but then I have to trigger the keys with a mouse on the XILS V+. Hmmmm.

Why on the XILS V+? Don't you use a carrier synth? Use a midi track on the carrier...

This is how to use two audio files (modulator + carrier) in Ableton Live 9:

This example works without ANY keys or midi files played. You just have to start playback at the host.


This is another setup with a vocal sample as the modulator and a VST synth (PPG Wave 3.V) as an external carrier:

In this example you either have to play the second instrument (the one that produces the external carrier) or play a midi file. For the Xils V+ instrument no keys or midi files have to be played in this case.

Here is the same setup in Reaper 4 (a bit more complex IMO):

Of course you are also free to use a second audio track as the carrier, in which case you also do not need any midi track...

A new version of V+ v1.0.1 had been uploaded. This solves problems that were reported with using V+ a 96k and 88k sample rates:

the vocoder is working now, but in a project saved with v1.0.1, the synth loads with no sound, then when I reload a new instance, it loads, plays for half a bar, then one channel drops out, then the other, or it keeps playing with one channel, (ie. either left or right) then when I change patches the synth continues to play only one channel.

Sorry to hear that.

Could you contact Xils via Xils lab contact utility, and if its possible give us the live project that doesnt work. It would be very helpfull, and we'll keep you informed.

It's not really a 'project' type of bug. It happens randomly. When it happens, I restart Live and it's usually back to normal. But the one thing that DOES happen is often one channel fails first, then the audio disappears altogether.
