Corona is definitely an 8 or 9 for me. It has unique stuff everywhere, in the oscillator combine modes, the filters and distortions, the modulation is very nicely set up and I love that there's a vibrato LFO right off the bat. I still have no idea what that band smash filter does, it's like a resonant bit crusher or something. It's freaking wild.
Try feeding some of the sampled waves through the digital combiners, too. Very skronky.
And TAL Bassline is a 10. It's a freaking modded 101 for christ's sake!

I think they tested Corona before it got the updates with the zdf filter and stuff, so that might be why they gave it a 7/10. And yeah, it's all quite subjective, don't know why they gave Mulab such a low rating either.TheoM wrote:I agree with the mulab rating but corona is a bit low..i'd be more an 8 or 9..

Corona is definitely higher than 7, a 9 I would say. It can do such a wide variety. The only soft synth I've found with as snappy of envelopes as Logic's ES2 but with a way thicker sound if you want it. Great filters, capable of all kinds of oscillator madness with the cross-mod on steroids stuff going on there. I would actually say sound quality wise it's probably number one for me, it just nails all the biggest sounds of a good Digital/VA synth. I see spire seems to be going in that territory as well but at great CPU cost.
I just wish Corona would expose all it's parameters to the host. It drives me crazy especially when modulation amounts are not automatable. With Corona it's like he was making all parameters automatable, even osc waveforms and various on/off buttons, lfo shapes etc., which is all great, but then it's like somewhere along development he just stopped remembering to expose them. Things like Unison amount, mod matrix stuff and others. Unfortunately he doesn't respond to my emails anymore asking if he'll make the rest of the parameters automatable, so everyone should bug the dev on this!

I hope it will come closer to rolands plugout, so that i don't have to buy rolands sh-101 plugout also.
I like it very much but in direct comparison to rolands sh-101 i prefer the sound from roland and the interface + sequencer from tal.

Blue is sexy as well. I used to use the dark one, but I'm switching to blue now.
