Ibanez RG3120 is my most versatile guitar. 5 excellent pickup positions, all useful and hum canceling. As close as I've found to getting Les Paul and Strat tones in a single guitar with the added bonus that it plays better than either of them and never goes out of tune.Synthack wrote: Fri Feb 04, 2022 1:20 am Going to pick up a RG series guitar soon and then start learning to play the damn thing.

Could be. I play hard. I think my Strat playing guitar heroes (SRV, David Gilmour, Hendrix, etc.) all played hard.resynthesis wrote: Fri Feb 04, 2022 1:38 am I have an '83 Squier JV that plays and feels great - just doesn't sound it! Truth be told I've never got a Strat to sound the way I want it to. Probably more my lack of ability / technique than the guitars fault. A couple of people have mentioned that I don't hit the strings hard enough so maybe that's key to getting the "tonez" from a Strat. YMMV

I did find one of these for $2699 in California. Gig bag is a bit week for that much, $500 off though.
Probably the actual guitar in the photo. It's new, likely they had it a while to let it go for that.

Nice. That looks almost identical to my Warmoth Telecaster. The Suhr I had was the Classic S with the Buzz Feiten system and it was phenomenal. If you can find one, the Classic Pro series was everything that makes Suhr great at a pretty decent price.
edit - I just checked prices and used Classic Pro's are now selling for more than when they were new. They were $1,999 originally.
edit 2 - Suhr's import model was called Rasmus. Suhr almost immediately discontinued them because they ended up having to do so much work on them at the US factory that they may as well have been US guitars. Pretty decent way to get Suhr quality at a lower price:

I only know Suhr through their Guthrie Govan sig model, but that seemed a beast.
Going for four grand now though, eek!

Just grabbed a J Mascis Jazzmaster (the Squier one). It appeared on Gumtree locally at such a good price it would have been rude not to.

Another option I found on Oahu this time, a Fender Ultra Luxe. $200 less than the Suhr, locking tuners, noiseless, stainless frets, body contours, hard case etc. The color is not especially to my liking, but it could grow on me I think.
The actual guitar:
Also looking into the G&L custom shop via Sweetwater, might not be too bad for a specific paint job,
tuners and stainless frets. Also kind of interested in the MFD pickups.

Yeah this is pretty much the guitar I need to get vs the others. Even at -$500 it's going to hurt...
Only for a little while though while my wallet flatlines...
